Anthurium clarivervium originates from the Mexican state of Chiapas, in the southeast of the country. There, it grows in tropical and seasonally dry subtropical forests at altitudes of 400 to 1000 meters, mostly terrestrially, often directly on limestone rocks .It only grows to about 30 to 40 cm tall, with leaves up to 25 cm long and 17 cm wide. The leaves are borne almost vertically on the petiole and are slightly cupped (yes, it's normal for them not to be flat!). They are deeply lobed at the base, and in mature plants, the two "ears" above the petiole overlap. The base color of the leaves is a velvety, matte, very dark green. The veins are silvery white and contrast sharply with the rest of the leaf. The contrast is even stronger here than in the larger Anthurium crystallinum !
It's astonishing how hard and leathery the fully mature leaves are. Anthurium clarivervium has to cope with quite dry conditions in its natural habitat. The leaves are probably so hard and robust as protection against drying out. This species is therefore probably the best suited as a houseplant among all the velvet-leaved anthuriums.
The inflorescence of A. clarivervium is held upright and extends above the leaves. Conspicuous orange berries develop on it after pollination.

Smaller than expected
Format: Hardcover
For a book this costly, I expected it to be thicker than volume. That said, there are some great ideas in here and I will probably edit this review when I have finished reading!

Excellent treatment manual
Format: Hardcover
State of the art manual on a solution-focused form of multi-couple couples therapy for intimate partner violence. Excellent presentation of the rationale and the underlying theory behind the approach. I particularly like the presentation of the first six sessions. However, I did not endorse this with 5 stars because I believe that the solution-focused approach does not go far enough for some couples and that they need some more structured interventions for managing conflict, such as those presented in Gottman Method Couples Therapy.

This was not the book I needed for my office ...
Format: Hardcover
This was not the book I needed for my office. The interventions or most of them required two therapists. Thank you.

A Great Way to Expose Yourself to Malpractice Lawsuits
Format: Hardcover
What the authors fails to say is that doing couples work where domestic violence is active is illegal in some cases and against standards of practice in most others. Not only might a clinician be increasing a client to dangerous relationship situations by conducting couples work where IPV is present, they are increasing their exposure to litigation. Let's not forget, this is the same APA who turned a blind eye to torture in the "war on terrorism."
