Pokémon Knitting provides detailed step-by-step instructions so you can create 20 different Pokémon. It’s a varied selection, with plenty of interesting colors and shapes to ensure hours of knitting fun. The Pokémon will be instantly recognizable to fans of the phenomenally popular Japanese game and TV series. In all their colorful and wonderful shapes, these soft toys are as true to the craft of knitting as they are to the Pokémon universe.

All Pokémon trainers need to train-themselves and their Pokémon. The same is true with knitting. To help in your training, the book starts with a how-to guide to understanding knitting patterns, then explains and demonstrates the various stitches needed to make the Pokémon. Then it addresses the special techniques you’ll need to master, which tools and materials you’ll need, and then how to put everything together to make a perfect Pokémon plushie.

The projects are split into three skill levels: Beginners, then Easy, and finally Intermediate patterns that are a little trickier. But whichever level you work on, the results are stunning. The beginner projects start with Gengar, then Jigglypuff, Snorlax, and Scorbunny. Easy projects start with Charmander, then Eevee, Flareon, Pikachu, Psyduck, Squirtle, Piplup, Mimikyu, and Slowpoke. Intermediate projects start with Bulbasaur, then Jolteon, Lapras, Magikarp, Vaporeon, Vulpine, and finally Turtwig.

Author Katie Boyette is a Pokémon fan and knitting aficionado, and author of the popular KnitWits series of monster pattern books. She blends her passions to perfection in this book that combines instruction with invention.

Really fun and engaging book

My 9 year old loves graphic novels, and has previously read the Cat Ninja series, so when I saw this I wanted to get it for her. She said it was a really fun and funny book, and she loved the time traveling aspect of it. She sat and read the whole thing through without stopping. And she gives it 5 stars. :) So if you have a kiddo who likes graphic novels like Cat Ninja, Diary of a Wimpy Kid, etc., this is a good book for them!

Fun read

My son says he doesnt enjoy reading but once he gets going he quickly gets pulled in. He said he'd seen the Epic books at school and he typically liked them, so we gave it a try. He read it in about 2 days, its summer so its amazing he read to begin with, but in asking him, he said it was a good story and it was easy to read. Honestly I like my kids to have books that are easy to read but will throw in the occasional big word as a learning opportunity. The book quality itself is really nice. From cover to cover the book is well made and feels durable. The illustrations are bright and well done. Overall I would highly recommend this to any child who might enjoy time travel with a touch of history.

A fun, comic style book

My fourth grader really enjoyed this book and asked if it was a part of a series. We didn't sit down and read it in one setting and usually when that happens we forget to come back and finish a book..... But she didn't forget about this one. Will probably reread it in the future too. The pages are nice quality and the colors are bright. The print is a little bit on the teeny side; But that's pretty typical in comic style print. We were really happy with it! I think a kid as young as second or third grade could also enjoy this book if they are reading skills are a little on the stronger side. I've sat with 5th graders who would read it this level too.

Kids had fun reading this book. My 7 year old thought it was lot of fun. My 11 year old thought the story had few holes where people and events were happening without any explanation. But overall, both had fun reading it. The book is made really well - it's beautifully illustrated and printed well. The behind-the-scene look at the how the characters were drawn was really neat as well.
