Thrinax radiata - Florida Thatch Palm

Thrinax radiata, commonly known as the Florida Thatch Palm, is a striking tropical palm that has almost perfectly circular fan shaped leaves and is thornless. Each leaf is divided into many narrow, stiff segments that radiate from the centre. The segments are not droopy, they hold a firm, upright shape, giving the palm a very clean architectural look. Growing to a height of 6–10 meters in the ground or remaining smaller in containers, the Florida Thatch Palm is ideal for feature planting, tropical landscapes, or as a stunning indoor specimen.

Position

The Florida Thatch Palm thrives in full sun to partial shade, adapting well to various soil types, including sandy, loamy, or clay, provided they are well-drained. This hardy palm is moderately drought-tolerant, salt tolerant and can withstand light frost, making it suitable for temperate, tropical, and subtropical climates. It is smooth and unarmed so is user friendly around walkways and pools.

Growth

This slow-growing palm reaches a mature height of 6–10 meters with a spread of 2–3 meters in the ground. When grown in containers, it remains more compact. The foliage is Fan shaped, almost perfectly circular.

Planting Guide

Thrinax radiata grows best in well-drained soil enriched with organic matter. Spacing plants about 3–4 meters apart to allow for natural spread. For container planting, use a high-quality palm mix, and position the container in a sunny or partially shaded spot. Water thoroughly after planting, and apply mulch around the base to retain moisture and suppress weeds.

Plant Care

Water regularly during the establishment phase, then reduce watering as the Florida Thatch Palm is moderately drought-tolerant once mature. Feed with a slow-release, balanced fertiliser formulated for palms during the growing season to promote healthy foliage and steady growth. Prune dead or damaged fronds as needed to maintain its tidy appearance. Mulching around the base helps retain moisture and protect roots in warmer climates.

Wish I could give more stars after 8 months 🙌🏼
Size: Large (5" x 3.25" x 9")
I purchased this in June and I've come back in January to leave a review. This was the first toy I bought my dog I had it delivered while she was still in the shelter and it has lasted longer than any other toy. Not only can she not destroy it when she's actively trying but she still loves it she plays with it all the time I don't even need to put treats in it she just enjoys the texture. This toy was such a win. I have wasted so much money since then on other toys that say their indestructible and turn up in pieces. I wish I could give it more stars

Dog loves it! For tough chewers for sure
Size: Medium/Large, Color: Dog Ness Monster - Large, Size: Medium/Large, Color: Dog Ness Monster - Large
Dog absolutely loves it, he’s super rough on all of his toys they usually last about 10 minutes bore they are torn to shreds. It’s lasting through his chewing so I’m happy. It’s also super cute.

Cute toy, dog really likes it. I had my doubts when I pulled it out, and honestly so did she, but the soft part bounces, so that got her going. We've had it for about a week. My dog is ~70 lbs and a moderate chewer, and this monster still gets regular play and is holding up well.
