Iconic Split Leaves That Create Instant Tropical Impact

Monstera deliciosa has become one of the most sought-after foliage houseplants because its leaves bring unmistakable tropical character indoors. As the plant matures, the broad green leaves develop dramatic splits and natural holes known as fenestrations, giving the foliage that instantly recognizable Swiss cheese plant look. Those openings are part of what makes Monstera deliciosa feel so sculptural and high-impact in a room. Even a single plant can change the mood of a space, making it feel more layered, lush, and alive without relying on flowers or seasonal color.

The beauty of this plant is not just in its size, but in the way its foliage evolves over time. Younger plants often start with smoother, more solid leaves, then gradually develop the bold cutouts that indoor gardeners are waiting for. That growth progression adds excitement and gives the plant a sense of maturity and personality as it settles into your home. The foliage is glossy, rich green, and substantial enough to hold its own in almost any interior style, from modern to collected and organic. For plant lovers looking for a houseplant that feels both trendy and timeless, Monstera deliciosa remains one of the most rewarding indoor foliage plants you can grow.

A Statement Houseplant for Stylish Rooms and Large Containers

Monstera deliciosa is a natural fit for plant lovers who want more than a tabletop accent. This is the kind of houseplant that works beautifully as a living focal point in bright living rooms, offices, sunrooms, bedrooms with filtered light, or spacious entryways. Its broad leaves and upright-to-climbing habit help fill visual space in a way that feels intentional and luxurious. In the right decorative container, Monstera deliciosa can soften hard corners, bring warmth to minimalist interiors, and add a relaxed tropical mood that still feels refined.

It is also one of the most versatile large houseplants for styling. Left to grow naturally, it can develop a broad, spreading presence with dramatic foliage at different levels. Given a moss pole, plank, or other sturdy support, it takes on a more vertical look and often produces larger, more impressive leaves over time. That flexibility gives homeowners more control over how they want the plant to behave in a room. It can serve as a floor plant, a greenery anchor in a plant grouping, or a design-forward statement piece on its own. If your goal is to create a room that feels fresh, grounded, and full of life, Monstera deliciosa is one of the strongest foliage choices available.

Easy Indoor Care With High Visual Reward

Part of the reason Monstera deliciosa has become such a favorite is that it offers impressive size and dramatic foliage without requiring a difficult care routine. It performs best in bright indirect light, where it can grow steadily and produce healthy, well-formed leaves without the scorch that strong direct sun can cause. Watering is also straightforward when the plant is potted correctly: allow the top portion of the potting mix to dry slightly, then water thoroughly and let the excess drain away. This rhythm helps support healthy roots while reducing the risk of soggy soil and overwatering problems.

Monstera deliciosa also adapts fairly well to everyday indoor life. It appreciates moderate humidity and warm temperatures, but it is often more flexible than many people expect, especially once established in a stable environment. A rich, well-draining soil mix and a container with drainage go a long way toward keeping it healthy. During the growing season, regular feeding can help fuel larger leaves and fuller growth, while occasional pruning keeps the plant tidy and encourages better shape. For indoor gardeners who want a tropical statement plant with a manageable learning curve, Monstera deliciosa offers a strong combination of beauty, reliability, and long-term satisfaction.

A Great Fit for Plant Lovers Ready to Grow Into Bigger Greenery

Monstera deliciosa is especially appealing for indoor gardeners who want a plant with room to grow, both literally and aesthetically. It makes an excellent upgrade from smaller starter houseplants because it delivers that next-level indoor jungle feel without becoming impossibly difficult to manage. It is also a memorable gift plant for housewarmings, birthdays, office openings, or anyone building a more plant-filled home. The large, evolving foliage gives it a premium feel, while the care routine remains approachable enough for beginners ready to try something more dramatic.

The main practical consideration with Monstera deliciosa is placement and safety. It is not pet-safe, so households with cats, dogs, or curious children should place it carefully out of reach of pets and curious children. It also benefits from room to spread and enough overhead or surrounding space to show off its mature form. For plant lovers who want a bold indoor plant that feels lush, current, and lasting, Monstera deliciosa brings strong design value and long-term growing satisfaction. It is one of those rare houseplants that can start as a stylish accent and grow into a true signature piece for the home.

If you fell in love with the Swiss Cheese Plant, check out its sister—the Swiss Cheese Vine! Botanically referred to as Monstera adansonii, this tropical plant is like a Deliciosa Monstera shrunk down and vining.

Amazing, different, success.
Format: Kindle
First let me say that this book (series) was not something I normally read. I prefer LGBT books written by women, but I also had no idea what a LitRPG was. I started the book cautiously, I found myself a little disappointed that it was under LGBT but the main character was into her co-worker. The co-worker was a dude. But I kept reading and I was surprised by how I got into the fact that it was sending her into a realm where she was basically a character in a video game. Completing tasks to earn points, leveling up, gaining stats. Now I’ll be honest, some of the information in this book (and the rest of the series) flew straight over my head. The author is definitely far more intelligent than I, and probably most average people lol. Finally, the characters are actually well developed and have their own unique personalities. With Emma’s leadership qualities she helps her group of new friends survive and turn into badasses. In the following books you can see how they each change and take on different roles over the course of their trials. This first book was great, it got me hooked. But it gets even better as time goes on! I have read this series so many times that I basically know it by heart. It’s that good. I recommend you read this, and the 5 other novels in the series. Also, check out the authors website and Patreon for sure. He’s currently working on a new series and posts chapter updates in Patreon posts. PS. I only leave reviews on books that wow me. :)

Unnatural Laws introduces a few wrinkles to the isekai LitRPG template and makes a comfy niche for itself. First, as the title implies, it introduces a few variations to the laws of physics. Water has higher self-cohesion, breathing can be weaponized, gravity's parameters work differently, etc. Second, the book includes the "forced participation in a training/puzzle facility" subgenre. Instead of a short tutorial arc, the first book ends well before winning free of the deadly training scenarios. Third, the "portal" mechanism by which folks are yoinked into a new reality. It is implied that the "kidnapped to another world" setup will continue to be important to the plot, where in most other Isekai it doesn't particularly matter how or why the MC got yoinked...it only matters that it happened. The most important things to me are characters. And these characters work! The MC is snarky, tough-minded, and takes charge. In a romance novel dust jacket, that description would already have me nauseous in anticipation of a vapid young woman who "zings" when silence would serve and who only appears "tough" and "take charge" because all of the other characters react to her that way. Not in this book! In this story, it's real and it's working for me. The secondary characters are also real to me. A young woman who low-key flirts with everyone (unconsciously?) and gets preferential treatment. An earnest young man who flees from anything he considers "work"...but will happily pour himself into crafts he enjoys. And others that I can only encapsulate even worse, so I won't try! There is plenty going on and plenty more to uncover. I thoroughly enjoy watching them interact and cooperate to navigate their new circumstances. Other things that are present and well-done, even if they don't stand out quite as much: - An assistant AI with secrets to keep - An interesting LitRPG system, blended with cultivation - A teaser for a well-built new world - A germinating romantic relationship If you enjoy the Isekai genre, the only thing that should make you pause before buying this: It's light on combat. Plenty of action, mind you, but most of it isn't combat. If that doesn't bother you (as it doesn't bother me), then you should pick this up. ===== EDIT: After reading 5 books, I like this series even better. At this point, I'd revise the subgenre to be "death games" and mention that the death games don't finish until the very end of book 4. The "light on combat" label expires with book one...there's plenty of combat after that. It is both well done and inventive! Lastly, I suppose this could be classified as YA fiction. Political landscapes and broader implications are hinted at, but you rarely get a look at them before they arrive and change the landscape. That said, I'm no spring chicken and I enjoyed these books a great deal.

Literally stayed up all night reading this.
Format: Kindle
A classic litrpg, but without some of the lazy tropes often used. Refreshing and familiar at the same time. The worldbuilding is great, the system is intriguing, the supporting cast is fun, and the MC is best summarized as a college student out of her depth staving off constant threats of death through the sheer bullheadedness of refusing to die. Romance isn't a major theme in this story, but threre is a hint that the MC isn't quite as straight as she believes. The writing is consistent and the narrative rarely drags, and why are you still reading this review? Go read the book.

Loved it!
Format: Kindle
I'm not sure what I was expecting when I started reading this book, but it definitely wasn't what I got. And, what I got was so much better! The idea of large groups of people just being taken from Earth on a schedule and yet the general population still having a rather blase attitude about avoiding large crowds is something that, 2 years ago, I would have said was unrealistic. After living through 2020, I now think it's incredibly realistic. As is the reaction had by a lot of the ones taken with Emma - well, before the coughing started, anyway. As for the trials. Holy crap! I can't imagine having to go through those, but I loved Emma's absolute determination to make it through them so she can (somehow) make it back to Earth and see her family again. Also, I was pleasantly surprised at how well the first trials section went, as it can be very difficult for authors to maintain a flow when there's one person. Having Suri there for conversations helped, but Wells did a masterful job there. Then we get to Hub Two and the difficulties there, and man! While I do hope that Emma doesn't have to keep taking so many crazy risks, her sheer determination to make it through works so well. Even though she clearly has plot armor that prevents her from dying, all the close calls - and the ways she gets out of them - are done really well. None of them seem outlandish or unrealistic, at least to me, which I greatly appreciated. I am definitely looking forward to reading book 2.

Started with a slow burn...
Format: Kindle
Well this book started with a slow burn as the author tried to not just teach the MC, Emma, but to everyone reading, a whole new kinda magic system. And it's purdy gimmicky if you ask me. I did like Emma's devil may care attitude when it comes to problem solving. Still it got better after new characters were introduced and Emma managed to team-up. And the story was fun as they work out the intricacies of the system. I am even eager to try the next book to see if it'll enthrall me. Here's a couple of quotes that amused me: “You could’ve died, you jerk!” I shake my head with a small smirk. “No, no, it’s pronounced, ‘Wow, that’s amazing, Emma!’ ” "...the plesiosaurus... plesiosauruses? Plesiosauri? The plessies chase after me..."
