Best grown in bright, indirect light the Purple Shamrock has butterfly shaped leaves that react to the light - at night the leaves 'close up', like flowers' and open up to the light in the morning.

Take note that the Purple Shamrock is a bulb and the plant will go through periods of dormancy, especially after the growing season and may temporarily also go through dormancy if the conditions are not right for the plant. If you see the leaves beginning to die and wither away and the entire plant lacks vitality, stop watering and remove the dead brown leaves. When the plant begins to show signs of new life, you can resume watering.
