Sweet Pea - April in Paris - Lathyrus odoratus

Developed by world-renowned breeder Dr. Keith Hammett, April in Paris is a perfect match of intoxicating fragrance, lovely form, and captivating color with the most intense perfume of any sweet pea. The large ruffled blossoms are a soft primrose cream, tinted at the edges in dark lilac that deepens and increases with age. These strong growing vines produce heavy sets of long-stemmed flowers that beg to be cut for heavenly scented bouquets.

Soil & Water:Sweet peas must have well-drained soil, so dig deeply and enrich with aged manure or compost before sowing seeds. Water well and mulch as vines grow.

Planting & Growing:Sow seeds in full sun in cool early spring weather (as early as the ground can be worked). In mild winter climates, where the ground does not freeze, sweet peas can be planted in the fall. Erect a well-anchored trellis, fence, or vertical netting for these climbing vines before planting seeds. Seedlings will form strong root systems, then overwinter to bloom vigorously in the spring. Plant seeds 1" deep and 2 - 3" apart. When seedlings are 2" tall, thin to 4-5" apart to allow plants room to mature. Sweet peas bloom best before the weather gets too hot. Where summer heat comes on fast, they'll appreciate a spot with afternoon shade. Anchor supports well as vies will grow heavy with bloom. Protect seedlings from birds, slugs, and snails. For longest bloom, pick flowers often and keep faded blossoms cut.

A notebook that stands up extremely well to bad weather and harsh working conditions

Now that I've used this notebook, I can't see myself using any other kind. I travel a lot and need a notebook with me at all times. That means the notebook I have with me is going to get wet frequently and take a beating in my pocket. This notebook is perfect. Rain/sweat have no effect on my written notes or my ability to write. The pages are thick which prevents tearing. The cover and binding are quite sturdy, rather than getting bent like cheaper notebooks. At 4x6 inches this fits in my cargo pocket without a problem and gives me plenty of writing space. If you are going to carry the notebook in your front pocket I'd suggest the smaller 3x5 version. The ruler on the back page was not something I thought about but has come in handy several times. No, this is certainly not the cheapest notebook available, but it is a reasonable price for a high quality product. If you are using this for field work, it is probably worth the cost. My work notes are certainly more valuable to me than the couple extra bucks spent. And really, how often do you fill up a notebook? I only go through one every month or two so it's not very costly. You cannot use gel type pens with this notebook, only normal ballpoint pens or pencils. I suggest using a Fisher Space Pen, it works very well with this notebook (also available on Amazon Prime for under $10)

Wet proof is great

As a nurse, I am able to put this in my scrub pocket and make notes as I go along. I also write down my patients' meds so I can refer to it when the computer is not available or not with me.
