Maranta received its name from Bartolomeo Maranti, a famous Venetian botanist from the sixteenth century, and originates from Central and South America.
Maranta grows up to about 45 cm tall, producing 5-6 new leaves per year. It prefers semi-shaded or shaded places, and exposure to too strong light discolors the leaves.
Placement: shaded space with indirect light. It does not tolerate drafts or very low temperatures during winter. In summer, it feels good in a cooler place; in excessive heat, the leaves get spotted.
Propagation: by dividing the clump.
