Dieffenbachia 'Tropic Marianne' is a cultivated form of Dieffenbachia seguine, an evergreen aroid grown for its broad, pale-centred foliage. The species is native to tropical Central and South America, where it occurs in warm, humid forest environments with consistent moisture and filtered light. This selection maintains the upright, cane-forming habit typical of the genus, producing thick stems that support large, elliptic leaves with a light green to cream central zone bordered by deeper green margins. As the plant matures and leaf size increases, the contrast between the central area and the margins commonly becomes more pronounced, with older foliage showing clearer pattern definition than juvenile growth.

Care Tips:

  • Light: Bright, indirect light is preferred. Direct sun can cause leaf scorch, while low light may reduce pattern definition.
  • Water: Water when the upper few centimetres of the potting mix begin to dry. Avoid waterlogging, as consistently wet conditions can lead to root and stem rot.
  • Media: A free-draining indoor plant mix with added coarse material such as perlite or bark is suitable.
  • Fertiliser: Apply a balanced liquid fertiliser at a reduced strength during the warmer months, spacing applications every 3 to 4 weeks.
  • Temperature: Performs best between 18 and 28 °C. Cold draughts and temperatures below 15 °C may cause leaf damage.
  • Repotting: Repot every 1 to 2 years, or when roots become crowded, ideally during periods of active growth.

Additional Notes

  • This plant is known to be toxic

Great item
I have several of these for my German Shepherd and Hound dog. While the Shepherd can still manage to get this apart it takes a lot longer than other chew toys.

Would not recommend
I bought this for my bulldog/boxer dog thinking that it was completely made of leather but it’s not. It has an inch of felt type material between two very thin leather pieces which makes it easy for her to chew on, becoming soft very quickly and then falls apart. We took it away from the dog the first day and threw it away because we didn’t want her swallowing felt type material.

The bone lasted a long time.
My border collie is a chewer. I can look at a toy and tell you how long it’s going to last. This bone has lasted months and she still will grab it and chew on it.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5/5 – Finally, a Dog Toy That Actually Lasts!
We picked up this natural leather bone dog toy hoping it would survive longer than the usual toys our dog destroys in a day—and wow, it exceeded every expectation. The leather is thick, durable, and clearly great quality. Our dog has tried his best to tear it apart (like he does with every toy), but this one has held strong. It’s been weeks now, and the toy still looks almost new. No frayed seams, no stuffing everywhere, no pieces breaking off. Just a solid, long-lasting toy that keeps our dog entertained without us having to constantly replace it. If you’re tired of wasting money on toys that only last a few hours, this natural leather bone is absolutely worth it. Tough, safe, and built to last—our dog loves it, and so do we!
