The Olympian Fig is a standout variety prized for its exceptional cold tolerance and uniquely sweet fruit. This heirloom fig is perfect for gardeners in cooler climates, delivering a reliable harvest of large, flavorful figs even in areas with shorter growing seasons. With its compact growth and adaptability, the Olympian Fig is an excellent addition to gardens and containers alike.

Key Features

  • Cold-Hardy: Thrives in cooler climates and withstands temperatures as low as 10°F, making it one of the most cold-tolerant fig varieties.
  • Exceptional Fruit: Produces large, purple-skinned figs with a delicate, light amber interior that offers a sweet, honey-like flavor. Ideal for fresh eating, baking, or preserving.
  • Compact Growth: A naturally smaller size makes this fig tree perfect for smaller yards or container gardening.
  • Early Harvest: Offers a reliable crop in early summer, with potential for a second harvest in warmer regions.
  • Ornamental Appeal: Large, deeply lobed leaves and attractive fruit add beauty to any garden setting.

Mature Size

  • Height: 6–10 feet
  • Spread: 4–8 feet

USDA Hardiness Zones

  • Zones 6–10 (requires winter protection in Zone 6).

Care Instructions

  • Soil Requirements: Prefers well-drained soil with a pH of 6.0–7.5.
  • Sunlight: Requires full sun (6–8 hours daily) for optimal growth and fruit production.
  • Watering: Water deeply during the growing season, allowing the topsoil to dry slightly between waterings.
  • Fertilization: Apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring and again in midsummer for vigorous growth and fruiting.
  • Pruning: Prune annually in late winter or early spring to remove dead or weak branches and maintain shape.
  • Winter Protection: In cooler zones, mulch around the base and wrap the tree with frost blankets or burlap to protect it during winter. For container-grown figs, move indoors or to a sheltered location.
  • Pest & Disease Management: Monitor for common pests like aphids or spider mites. Ensure good airflow to reduce the risk of fungal diseases.

Why Choose Olympian Fig?

The Olympian Fig combines remarkable cold tolerance with outstanding fruit quality, making it a top choice for gardeners in cooler climates. Its compact size, early harvests, and sweet, flavorful figs ensure it will quickly become a cherished addition to your garden or patio. Whether grown in-ground or in containers, this resilient variety will reward you with years of beauty and bountiful harvests.

Read it to ok for 9 year old
Format: Kindle
I heard about this series and wanted to see if it would be up her alley. I downloaded this book to read before bed and now it's the middle of the night. I ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ the book. I'm a woman in my 40's and it was a great read for me! I know my daughter will really enjoy it. She struggles with her vocabulary so I've been selecting and pre-reading books and gathering words I know she will be challenged by. Then I make those her spelling words for the week and use the words in sentences 100k times until she knows them. Doing that has really improved her reading experience and helps her flow through the book easier and enjoy it far more. Great book.

USS Indy 500
Format: Kindle
Very good book. Super interesting and great articulation for a young reader. Very captivating and very inspiring. I’ve read escaped prison island aswell (check it out) and Scott peters and Ellie Crowe are really good authors! Definite read and I love how they tied in ww2 to something you would have never associated a shark story with. Learned a lot thx.

Freedom isnt free
Format: Kindle
This is an unbelievable story. Of course I had known of the USS Indianapolis and the shark attack, but never had I actually listened to a first hand account. How terrified these men had to have been. Its beyond comprehension really. The sacrifice, bravery and fortitude humbles me. Thank you to all who serve.

Best way to explore Paris
Format: Paperback
This book is awesome! I enjoyed reading it just as much as my kids did! I love the layout and the way that the book assigns the kids to be secret agents, but defers to the case officers (parents) for the final say. We were in Paris for 1 week and although the weather was less than cooperative, we were able to capture our 100 points and award our 4yo and 7yo their secret agent certificates. I love the fact that you can work on this book in any order and do as little or as much as you want at each attraction. The price was awesome and worth every penny. My 7yo particularly enjoyed the challenges at the Musee D'Orsay and the Louvre and it was a great way to keep those visits focused and entertaining for the kids. My 4yo was a little young to stay engaged with every "mission", but the activities were easy enough that she could help (ex. finding a winter scene in the Musee D'Orsay). I loved that this book engaged the kids but didn't detract from any of our visits (we didn't feel like we had to go "out of our way" to find anything). The only disappointment was that they didn't include Versailles and Sainte Chappelle. I have not only recommended this book to all my of friends traveling to Paris (honestly with or without kids), but I have also already purchased the similar books for London, New York, and Washington DC. Can't wait to see what other cities they add!
