Growing to about 1–3 feet (30–90 cm) tall and spreading up to 5 feet (1.5 meters) wide, the caper bush thrives in full sun and well-draining, rocky or sandy soils. It is often grown on terraces, walls, and dry slopes where few other plants can survive. Suitable for USDA Hardiness Zones 8–11.

To germinate Capparis spinosa seeds, start by scarifying the seed coat with a file or sandpaper to improve water absorption. Then soak the seeds in warm water for 24 hours.
