  • Plants are intolerant of drought or strong winds. Plants dislike temperatures below 55 degrees F. and are marginal survivors in USDA Zone 10. In most areas of the continental U. S., this plant should be grown indoors or in a greenhouse.
  • Use an all purpose potting soil. Keep soil uniformly moist. Site plants in indirect sun. Plants like high humidity. Plants are intolerant of cool indoor breezes. Plants may be taken outside in the hot summer months for placement in bright shaded areas with indirect sun.
  • Cyrtostachys renda, commonly called lipstick palm or sealing wax palm, is a tropical palm that is native to swampy rain forest areas of the Malaysian peninsula, Indonesia and Borneo. It is perhaps best known for its glossy scarlet red crown shafts and leaf stalks which bring stunning accent and contrast to landscapes or indoor areas.
  • Common names are in reference to the red coloration. In the wild, this palm will grow to 12-15’ tall. Pinnate leaves to 4-5’ long are deep green above and gray-green underneath. Small greenish white flowers in panicles bloom in summer.

Gives a decent head start but it didn't and shouldn't have any impact on grades
Format: Paperback
Reading this book before school started had the benefit of getting me thinking about law and legal analysis. But it had no impact on my grades (I'm at or near the top of my class in all subjects and top overall). More importantly, it SHOULDN'T have any impact on one's grades. Attending the lectures, reading the cases, preparing your own outline, participating in class and seeking help from the professor when necesssary; THESE are the vital steps for success in law school. I gave up using commercial aids for one crucial reason: they distracted me from getting inside the head of the professor and really grasping the nature of the topic. People who try to take artificial shortcuts like using a commercial aid will never excel. If their intellect cannot naturally expedite the studying process, how could a quick summary give someone that special, incisive grasp of a topic? In such a case one would be better off doing all the assigned tasks properly and methodically. Disagree with me at your peril! To be fair, after reading this book, I was able to provide some clever answers in class during my first month at school. After that, I was so involved and interested in the assigned materials, I long surpassed what this book could offer.

Student Review
This book is an excellent introduction to the basic principles of insurance. We used this text as a supplement in our Intro to Act. Sci. class. It is very readable, easy to understand. Minimal mathematics required, some basic calculus concepts used, but only briefly. Don't let it's small size fool ya, it has plenty of information in there.
