This energy is necessary for birds developing and maintaining their health. Better yet, pesky squirrels tend to dislike the taste of safflower seeds, and less-welcome birds like starlings and grackles don’t have beaks strong enough to crack the shell.  If you’ve been feeding sunflower for a long time, adding an additional feeder with safflower is a great way to mix it up and give your birds a new flavor to enjoy!
