The name Sacred Lotus refers to a type of lotus flower, not a particular variety. Sacred Lotus are usually tall pink or pink & white single-petal lotus varieties. The lotus flower exudes beauty and grace. The Sacred Lotus is revered in many countries worldwide, often symbolizing the seat of Buddha and many Hindu deities. It is the most important flower in Eastern Cultures and often symbolizes peace, purity, devotion, and new beginnings. Grows 4 - 5 feet tall when planted in very wide containers

Tall/Pink/Single Petals

Planting Instructions

We may ship the lotus dormant weeks early in spring before you should plant; simply keep the small package in the refrigerator until outdoor temperatures are steadily 75 degrees or better and quite sunny where you will be planting every day. Tubers shipped in March should be fine up until Mid May in the refrigerator.

Plant your sacred lotus tuber in a wide container (24 - 48 inches wide) using loam soil. Dig a trench in the soil and gently place your sacred lotus tuber in the trench, taking care not to break or damage the tuber. Cover all but the growth tips with an inch or two of soil and gently add a couple of inches of water above the soil. Place your lotus container outdoors where it will receive at least 8 hours of strong sunlight per day Tuber in a wide container (24 - 48  inches wide) using loam soil. Cover all but the growth tips with an inch or two of soil and gently add a couple of inches of water above the soil. When placing your lotus under water, we suggested a depth of about 5-7 inches of water above the soil line; however, sometimes the tall lotus do okay in full direct all-day sun in very large containers as much as 12 inches from the top of your soil to the waters surface. Do not plant lotus deep or they will drown.

DO NOT fertilize until you have aerial leaves growing out of the water. Once you have at least two aerial leaves, you may fertilize your lotus

Fertilizing Instructions

Lotus are very heavy feeders. We recommend Waterlily World Fertilizer Tabs + Humates for optimum growth, best bloom and ease of use. Press the fertilizer tabs into the soil near the roots of your lotus, taking care not to damage the roots. Do this once a month throughout the growing/blooming season (June through August). Your Sacred Lotus should grow and bloom the very first year!

What Is Loam Soil?

Loam soil is a good mixture of Topsoil and Sand

If you are lucky enough to have good topsoil in your backyard, by all means, use your topsoil. All you will have to do is add fertilizer. If you are not so lucky--and your backyard is sand or heavy red or yellow clay, you can mix up a batch of loam soil.

You can create your loam soil by mixing these two ingredients

Mix thoroughly with a little water. The soil should clump when squeezed. If the soil is mixed properly, it will not muddy the pond water.

Don't buy brands like Scott's or Miracle-Gro, as they contain too much organic matter that can foul your water. Instead, buy an unbranded bag of topsoil.

You can purchase Pool Filter Sand at any store that sells pool supplies.

Loam soil is well-suited for all aquatic plants (except oxygenators). Oxygenators rarely need to be planted, just anchored in the substrate or in a container filled with sand or 1/8  inch pea gravel.

Sand holds little water but does allow for aeration and drainage.

Some DO's and DON'TS regarding Aquatic Planting Soil

DO NOT use potting soils ( as they are too light and will float right out of the pot). Potting Soil has organic material that will rot and foul your water!

DO NOT add too much-composted material (as it is too rich in organic matter, and it will ferment underwater and destroy the ecology of your pond).

DO NOT use 100% calcined clay as there is no nutritional value in calcined clay.

DO NOT add rocks, stones or pebbles to the top of your planting container as this will inhibit the growth of your plants. Plants do not grow in rocks and stones in nature!

DO NOT purchase API Aquatic Planting Media or Microbe-lift Aquatic Planting Media as these products are NOT suitable for waterlilies, lotus or most other pond plants. They are suitable for submerged grasses ONLY!

We offer PondGro Aquatic Planting soil if you live in an area of the USA without proper topsoil.

Perfect for keep-away
Size: Large Size 3, Color: Red-Blue
I purchased one of these for my pup and he has a ball throwing it up in the air and chasing it. Handy for something they can play with alone.

Great durable ball
One of my dog’s favorite toy. We have had this ball for almost a year and it is still intact. My Doberman loves it and has not been able to destroy it. The size is comparable to s tenis ball. It has a little weight to it witch makes it easy to trow further.

Best toy I’ve ever gotten for my dog
The toy allows you to interact with your dog in a way that I didn’t realize was so important until I adopted a dog who was ball obsessed and a bit disconnected. We have bonded so much over this toy and it has held up so much better than 95% of the toys I’ve gotten, which have all been labeled as high-quality or durable. It is perfect for playing fetch and for tugging, as well as training. The only thing worth noting is that the rope is thin enough that it can be uncomfortable to tug with a large or strong dog. I usually wrap a leash around my hip and hook it to the rope when we are doing intense tugging (because my 75 pound dog would win otherwise). If you do go for a tug toy that has a more comfortable handle, it will not bounce and be easy for a dog to run around with in the same way. This rope makes the weight heavily in favor of the ball, so it acts more like a ball and the dog is more inclined to grab the ball. I think this toy finds right balance of ball to rope.

So good, I repurchased
This is one of my dog's fave fetch toys, and after losing it in a grassy field, I repurchased. The ball is heavy and durable, and the rope is sturdy and just the right length for flinging. When this comes out, my dog knows we're playing fetch! There's no strange smell out of the package, and while my 70lb Samoyed isn't a hard chewer, he hasn't put a dent or nick in the ball itself. It's not so hard that I'd be worried about him gnawing on it, either.

Great ball much improvement on thr rope
I have to say that I absolutely live this ball. The ball itself is a great sturdy and very tough ball. The rope however needs improved. It should be a much more durable, heavy duty rope. I have 4 large dogs. I do not let them chew this toy we play fetch with it but like any dog they tug (hard) and pull and do chew at it. I do not think that can be avoided, and thr rope doesn't hold up.
