Current crop is similar in size to pictured here. This is a man-made hybrid that has been cultivated mainly in the USA. Unknown if these have been found in nature as natural hybrids. When in bloom, Pruinosa x Seleriana produces a simple, small scape that is red/pink in color and produces purple tubular flowers that are typical of subgenus Tillandsia flowers.
