 What does Crazy Keiki do?

🌱 Triggers new leaf and stem growth

🌱 Activates dormant nodes

🌱 Brings bare, leggy stems back to life

🌱 Triggers growth in dormant plants

This is the original, genuine Crazy Keiki Cloning Paste from Southside Plants, made in the USA. Keiki is pronounced 'KAY-kee' (it means baby in Hawaiian). Originally developed for Orchids, but since used with amazing results on a long list of indoor plants.

Crazy Keiki lets you harness the power of phytohormones for good. The active ingredient is cytokinin, a group of plant growth hormones that trigger cell division for growing new leaves and stems.

Cytokinin's also been shown to help activate new growth further down on bare, dormant stems, making cytokinin effective even on older growth. A tiny pea-sized dab of this magic paste on a node is my secret to bringing balding stems and leggy vines back to life again.

"Saw this product on the internet and had to get it for my poor balding plants! I have applied it to my plants and in a week there are new nodes and regrowth!"

What's in the box?

This kit comes with a 7ml jar of Crazy Keiki Cloning Paste and 5 wooden applicators and directions included. I'll also email you the directions and same tips shared on this page.

How do you apply Crazy Keiki?

Start with a healthy plant:

  1.  Locate a bare node without a leaf,

  2.  Using an applicator (included), apply a small dab of Crazy Keiki,

  3.  Job done! Wait for the new growth to appear.

To improve results, use your shears or a knife to gently score above the node first. For thicker or woodier older stems, notch instead of score the stem above the node first. For an older woody stem on a Ficus or Fiddle Leaf Fig for example, use the notch technique. A notch means to cut a small wedge out of the stem, not more than 1/4 to 1/3 of the way into the stem, on one side. Use a paper towel or similar to dab the sap. Once dried, apply Crazy Keiki.

Here's about the minimum depth and shape you're aiming for when notching a woodier stem:

How much do you need to apply?

I use between half a pea to a pea-sized dab of Crazy Keiki per node. A half-a-pea sized dab is plenty for most small to medium sized indoor plants and orchids. An ear bud is ideal to use, plus there are 5 wooden applicators included in the kit.

"... had a few plants that got attacked by spider mites so had to trim all of the damaged leaves and wanted to see if I could fill some gaps. I put this on one evening and got a bit excited so kinda put some on all of my plants.

Not even a week later EVERY SINGLE plant had new growth in every place I had put the paste. Absolutely blown away, I wasn’t expecting results quite like that."

Tips for best results

KEEP IT LOW

For best results, apply Crazy Keiki to basal nodes (the nodes closest to the soil that have more direct access to nutrients and water).

KEEP FEEDING

Remember to feed! New growth requires fuel. Fertiliser fills up your plant's tank, ready to support that new growth. Keep using (or start using!), fertiliser.

LESS IS MORE

Most indoor plants focus their efforts on producing ONE new leaf at a time. Triggering multiple new leaves to grow all at once needs a lot of energy. Activating too many nodes at once can produce multiple but smaller leaves.

Instead, pick 2 to 3 nodes to activate on one plant at one time. Apply a few nodes apart or on different stems of the same plant. Less is more!

SCORE VS NOTCH

If you score or notch the stem above the node first it increases the success rate. On older, woodier stems a notch is the best method (see the photo above). A score is just a few shallow slices into one side of the stem above the node. a notch is when you cut a small wedge shape out of the stem.

How long does Crazy Keiki take to work?

2 TO 8 WEEKS

The answer is the same to the question: 'How long does it take for a cutting to root?'. It depends. It could be anywhere from 2 to 8 weeks for new growth to start to appear after applying Crazy Keiki, but 2 to 6 weeks is normal. The fastest I've had it trigger new growth was 10 to 14 days and if you check the reviews you'll see it's common to see new growth as soon as the 2 week mark.

WHAT SPEEDS IT UP OR SLOWS IT DOWN?

But just like growing anything, the health of the plant and the right conditions result in faster growth. Plus some plants just naturally grow faster than others. The same things that normally slow growth can also reduce how effective Crazy Keiki is as it works with your plant.

Conditions such as cold temperatures and low light can slow down growth. Consider the health and history of the plant also, the same as you would when taking a cutting. Things such as a recent loss of leaves, root rot, over- or under-watering, a change in conditions, diseases, pests or being repotted can all slow down growth.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

"Really easy to use, and on almost every spent orchid flower spike where I've used it, there is new growth happening in 3-4 weeks."
Niqui Keen

Can you use Crazy Keiki to root cuttings also?

No, you need a different family of plant hormones for root growth. Crazy Keiki helps activate growth of new foliage on bare nodes, without cutting the plant. To help cuttings root, you want the type of hormones used in rooting products like GT Clonex or in a rooting fertiliser like CCS.

Do you need to reapply Crazy Keiki?

Normally, no, one half pea-sized application is enough. Crazy Keiki Cloning Paste is water-resistant, but within reason. Strong spray or heavy rain may dislodge the paste. Misting shouldn't cause any issues. Since Crazy Keiki is a pale yellow to clear colour, you might like to wrap a piece of twine near the application point so you can easily check it later in case you do need to reapply.

Does the node have to be active?

No, one of the benefits of Crazy Keiki is cytokinins (the plant growth hormones in Crazy Keiki), have the ability to activate growth even on old, basal nodes near the soil or on dormant stems. It doesn't have to be applied to active nodes. However, when using Crazy Keiki to activate older, dormant nodes or on woodier stems, always score or notch the stem by making a surface wound with a sharp knife or shears. The cells in the callous that forms on the cut will use the growth hormones in Crazy Keiki to trigger new leaf growth.

Pots, plants and other accessories shown in some photos are not included. See 'What's in the box' for what's included.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

"It actually works! I applied a ball bearing blob to 4 nodes, 3 have sprouted so next time I'll take it a little slower. But I got excited. It's so good."

Abbey Goodhead

Is Crazy Keiki guaranteed to always work?

No, Crazy Keiki won't work 100% of the time for 100% of plants. There are a few external factors that might stop it working or slow it down which aren't able to be controlled by the product. The health of the plant, external factors like light, watering, temperature and humidity, whether you fertilise or not, how many nodes you applied it to, whether you scored or notched (or not), or simply how long it's been since you applied it.

For example, if you got Crazy Keiki to 'fill in the blanks' for a plant that's lost leaves, the same reason it lost the leaves can also stop Crazy Keiki working (such as inconsistent watering). Remember the health of the plant should be 100% first, so fix what's wrong before applying Crazy Keiki to get the best results.

However, often the answer is simply patience and normal plant care. The same as propagating, some plants take longer than others, and times of year when it's darker and colder (like winter), slows it down further, the same as growth in general for plants when it's colder or darker. Softer stemmed plants tend to work faster (as soon as 2 weeks), but harder or woodier stemmed plants (which also need scoring or notching), can take 6 to 8 weeks or longer.

My dog absolutely loves playing with this toy!! It is made of very thick plastic and I’m thinking she won’t be able to destroy this toy very easily!! She loves for you to throw it and play tug of war with. I’m very pleased with my purchase. She is a medium size dog and it works great for her.

Well made, minor issue was quickly resolved
Size: Large, Color: Dinos Bruto (Purple)
I purchased the Dino Bruto Dog toy for my labradoodle who is quite fond of squeaky, squawky stuffed toys and oddly enough has shown a preference for purple. I opened the package with my hound standing by waiting for his gift. I detached the tags and attempted to squeak the toy. It seemed difficult to squeak or honk. I tossed the purple Dino Bruto to my dog who excitedly chomped to squeak. The toy squawked a couple times and then just quit. My poor hound was staring up at me with that "what's up with this" look on his face. I tracked down the website for the GoDog toys, not going through the Amazon return process. I called the good people at GoDog and stated simply that my dog's favorite part of the toy failed quite quickly and I was wondering about guarantees. I was told to go to the website and file a replacement request. The replacement request required that I include a photo which I did as directed. I received an reply email within a couple hours which stated that a new toy would be sent out shortly. I am happy to report that we received a replacement toy, not the purple Dino, but a colorful wood duck. The squawker device works well and is still performing like new more than a month later. It appears that the squeaker is not those little plastic squeakers but the bigger heavy plastic bag, bladder, with what I visualize as a duck call sort of sound device. I am guessing because I haven't seen the inside of the GoDog toys. I have seen the guts of other stuffed toys which use this type of noise device. While our dog seems to enjoy the sound of the plastic bag, bladder set-up squawkers, they seem to fail quickly and I tend to avoid them because of this. The toys using this type of squawker that I have seen, use what looks like a cheap lightweight plastic bag which is not securely attached to the "voice box". Since the GoDog replacement toy is holding up so well, I am guessing GoDog uses a heavier grade plastic bladder coupled with reinforced construction. The purple Dino Bruto toy still looks new even after multiple times of our hound grabbing the purple toy, shaking it at us with his invite to give chase or play keep away. Since the squawker failed so quickly with the new toy, I figure it was just a defective item which does not reflect the general quality of toys from GoDog. One evening our neighbor was visiting while his pitbull was playing in our yard with our dog. Our patio door was open so our dog ran into the house and grabbed his purple Dino Bruto toy. He is a bit of a show-off with new toys. Our dog then went racing back into the yard, shaking his GoDog toy at the pitbull. A quick game of tug-of-war ensued. Since this is a new toy, our neighbor leaped into the game and took the toy away from the dogs. In that short time of tugging between the dogs, the toy held together and did not even pull apart at any of the seams. There were no puncture marks either. This is a game our dog has initiated before with the neighbor pitbull. Normally, the stuffed toys are ripped apart almost immediately. I was surprised and impressed with the quality of the sewing which appears to employ some sort of reinforced construction or heavier material. I plan to make more purchases from GoDog toys. The toys are a little more expensive than some stuffed dogs toys but they hold up so well I figure they are worth a few more dollars. They are great toys that hold up well and the company provides quick responses to inquiries. I consider this a winning combination.

Good quality

we’ve had many godog toys over the years and although my dog eventually rips through them I do find that they last longer than other cheap toys. Overall very well made!
