Doona, with its unique hybrid functionality, has been tested to meet the strictest US standards for Car-Seats, Strollers and Hand-Held Carriers. 

Doona successfully passed all legally required compliance tests. To assure that Doona exceeds the standards, it was checked in more than a hundred crash tests, including extreme weather conditions, collision at very high speeds, etc. In frontal collision tests (the most frequent type of car accident), Doona scored a high 5-star rating. In addition to tests conducted in leading labs around the world, Doona established a fully automated, in-house testing facility. In this facility, we continuously conduct more than 20 different out of the standard tests, to ensure durability over time, prevent consumer misuse, and more.

Unlike typical car seats, Doona’s unique structure enables positioning the handle against the back of the car seat, thus providing the baby with exceptional Anti-Rebound protection. In case of collision, the Anti-Rebound handle absorbs the impact and prevents the Doona from rotating quickly towards the back of the seat, thus dramatically reducing rebound injuries.

Misuse and improper installation of car seats and strollers are the most common causes of injuries. Doona’s design and engineering teams developed multiple fail-safe mechanisms to assure safe operations and prevent misuses. Among others, these mechanisms prevent the following: Unintentional folding, hasty extension of the carry mode handle, and rotation of the extended handle in the “on-the-go” mode.

A baby’s rigid body parts (shoulders and hips/pelvis bone) can withstand high load forces of a crash better than the soft body parts (lower abdomen). In case of an accident, forces are transferred to the car seat and to the baby. With a 5-point harness, the baby’s abdominal area is better protected and therefore does not endure such high loads. The shoulder straps can be easily adjusted to the correct shoulders’ height, which secures the child in the safest position within the protective seat shell.

The unique double-wall structure of Doona enables the folding of the wheels into the body and offers a significant safety benefit. The two layers of durable, impact-absorbing plastic, along with additional layers of EPS, foam, and textiles provide enhanced side-impact protection.

All materials used in our products are free of hazardous chemicals and are carefully tested and approved under the strictest European standards and the REACH regulation, including SVHC (Substances of Very High Concern). The textiles are tested for their durability and quality to assure the safety and continuous use of the products. In addition, they are all breathable, removable, and washable textiles.
