Alocasia zebrina is a fascinating plant that immediately catches the eye with its unique, arrow-shaped leaves and distinctive stripes reminiscent of a zebra. The long, slender stems help Alocasia zebrina reach sunlight in its natural habitat of tropical rainforests.

Care: Grow in a well-drained soil mix with elements of perlite and bark, e.g. our aroid mix to ensure good drainage. Do best in bright but indirect sunlight. Avoid strong sunlight which can cause brown leaves on Alocasia.

Botanical description

The species is called Alocasia zebrina and it originates from the Philippines. The species is believed to be endangered in the wild.

Appearance

The leaves of the A. zebrina are arrow-shaped and can grow up to 30 cm long. They have an elegant shape and a deep green color that contrasts beautifully with the zebra-striped stems.

Alocasia zebrina grows best in temperatures above 18°C. As it is a tropical plant, it can benefit from regular leaf spraying, partly to reduce the risk of pests such as spider mites and partly to keep the leaves clean and ready to catch the sun's rays.

If you are looking for a new addition or maybe just a tropical ornamental plant for your home, the zebra shield will definitely impress with its exotic leaves and stems. Buy Alocasia zebrina online!

Loved this book!
Format: Hardcover
I have a grandson (5yrs old) who loves "There was an old lady who swallowed a fly" books, and is obsessed with black holes as well. He asked santa for a black hole for Christmas and his mom told me, "good luck with that", so when I found this, it was perfect! He absolutely loved it and it's a cute book to read.

2nd book if you have black light
Format: Hardcover
The book is ok, with the same plot as "there was an old lady who swallowed a fly" but there is a second book that goes back to front if you have a blacklight. Some of the pages were not printed well with the invisible ink but I really liked that second book better, as it explains the terminology like quarks and atoms. It is a fun book but having a black light is a must.
