Purple Hibiscus Plants: This stunning woody shrub has a maximum reach of about twelve feet and a spread of eight feet. It can liven up any sunny location in your landscape.

The Purple Hibiscus Plants Are Hardy To Soil Types

This Syriacus is an Asian native shrub well-suited to the middle U.S.D.A. growing zones in the United States. It is unfussy about soil quality and doesn't mind clay, sand, or even a few rocks—as long as the water drains well.

Syriacus is moderately drought-tolerant. It can withstand short, dry spells with occasional watering.

Other Common Names for This Hibiscus

This species, regardless of color, also carries other common names, including the following:

  • Hibiscus
  • Rose of China
  • Rose of Sharon
  • Rose-of-Sharon
  • Shrub Althea

Despite the nickname Rose of Sharon, this species has no relation to roses.

Pollinator Species Love the Purple Shrub

Pollinator insects, like butterflies and bees, along with hummingbirds and songbirds, will visit your Rose of Sharon. The insects and hummingbirds will find the bright lavender and scarlet irresistible. On the other hand, ground-feeding birds will seek refuge from threats in the profuse foliage.

One animal that does not love Syriacus is the deer. They'd prefer to find something less fragrant to eat and will only consume your Syriacus as a last resort.

The Purple Shrubs Stunning Large Blooms

The main attraction of the Purple Hibiscus Plants is the abundance of flowers that appear in the middle of summer. In warmer growing zones, the blossoms might continue into the last days of fall.

The flowers can be as large as four inches and have two layers of five crepe-like petals. Most blooms last for one day, and a fresh flower appears quickly behind them.

The lavender petals contrast against a tinge of scarlet in the inner part of each petal and a yellow or spring-green center.

The foliage of this shrub is also head-turning. Glossy, dark green leaves have coarse toothiness around the edges. They alternate along the stem, fuller at the bottoms of the branches and thinning slightly near the tips.

TN Nursery suggests Purple Hibiscus Syriacus for anyone who wants the classic beauty of a shrub in their garden. Order from TN Nursery today.

If you are looking for a reliable flowering shrub option, this shrub is great. It is often sold by proven winners. The specific name is Hibiscus syriacus purple, sometimes known as the rose of Sharon purple. The variety purple pillar is popular, featuring dramatic purple blooms. These flowers are usually semi-double. It needs excellent-draining soil and thrives across various hardiness zones. It features dense, healthy green foliage. The Purple Hibiscus is a tough plant that delivers high-impact color.

Love the Timex Ironman Shock watches!!
Color: Black/Black/Digital
I really like the Timex Ironman Shock watches. They are very durable and reliable. Simple to use and modeled after the. Original Ironman watches of the late 80s and 90s. Buttons are clearly marked and easy to press. They used to make many colors of this Shock model of the watch inc a cool shiny red color my wife still has . I have been a runner many many years and at 65, am still out although a lot slower than my 20s. But Timex Ironman watches have. Been my constant companion on the roads and track for 35 years now.

Solid Watch 2 Months In TLDR, would buy again
Color: Black/Black/Digital
Solid watch so far with a readable face and a comfortable strap. My previous watch was a G-shock DW5600. I chose this for the lap feature and generally liked the appearance. Things I didn’t love: 1) the chronograph displays the mode at the top. I know what mode it’s in, it would be better to have the actual time. 2) this has dual time zones, it’s apparently easy to flip to the second time zone without realizing. I have mine set to US eastern and US central (a one hour difference which begs the question why, and I hear you). But I almost missed 2 events not realizing my wristwatch had jumped back an hour while playing with my kids in the park. 3) I’m still playing with the count down timer function. I messed something up on my first run, but I’m sure I’ll figure it out. Just something didn’t work intuitively. 4) I didn’t realize how often I had used the indigo equivalent feature on my Gshock as a flash light in low light situations. With the black face this isn’t an option on this watch (I’d still make this trade for the aesthetic). I would buy again just for something fresh after 5+ years with the G-Shock and the lap feature. Probably a little hyper critical focused on the short comings. Water resistance has been tested an no issues after two months.
