calibrachoa petunia flower seeds Kabloom® White Calibrachoa SeedsIt's finally here! We have all waited too long for a Calibrachoa we could start from seed, instead of paying those high prices for plants (and being dependent on whatever colors and varieties happened to be available)! Now there is Kabloom, the first ever series that grows from seed. And HOW it grows you'll see the first blooms about 4 months after sowing the seeds, and the plants are super healthy, vigorous, and flower filled. Kabloom (love the name)

It's finally here! We have all waited too long for a Calibrachoa we could start from seed, instead of paying those high prices for plants (and being dependent on whatever colors and varieties happened to be available)! Now there is Kabloom®, the first-ever series that grows from seed. And HOW it grows -- you'll see the first blooms about 4 months after sowing the seeds, and the plants are super-healthy, vigorous, and flower-filled.

Kabloom® (love the name) is a trailing variety with absolutely nonstop flowers all summer long -- and even earlier in warm areas, of course. The flowers self-clean, which we really appreciate, and the center of the plant remains fresh and full even in August, after several months of constant flowering.

Just made for containers of all kinds (but especially those that allow room for the flowering stems to cascade over the sides attractively, tossing up blooms as they please), Kabloom® reaches about 8 to 12 inches high and 10 to 14 inches wide. It seems much longer than it really is, and the height of the plant gives it a nice fullness that many prostrate or spreading varieties lack, especially toward summer's end when they are about "flowered out."

Snowy white blooms simply gleam in the summer garden on this trailing beauty! They complement every neighboring plant, making other colors shine just a little more brightly. And butterflies and bees signal their approval by frequent visits!

Like all Million Bells, Kabloom® does best in moist, well-drained soil or name-brand potting mix. Although it is very tolerant of heat, humidity, and drought, keep it well watered and fed, especially during the spring growing season. It likes a high-iron fertilizer, but does just fine with any good all-purpose feed. This plant can and will tolerate a lot of adversity, outlasting even Petunias, Geraniums, and other hot-summer-weather standouts. So treat it well as it grows in order to send it into the stressful summer months with a great start!

Here's how to sow the seeds: they will germinate either with or without light, so begin them indoors in late winter, setting a single seed on top of the bio sponge in your Bio Dome or on top of the grow mix in your seed flats. Keep the temperature between 72 and 75 degrees F, and make sure the bio sponge or grow mix is slightly moist. Germination takes about a week.

Once the seeds have sprouted, add light and keep the temperature above 70 for the first few weeks. They are ready to transplant when they have several sets of true leaves. That's all there is to it!

Add unforgettable color to your hanging baskets, window boxes, and planters of all kinds with Kabloom®! It's so nice to have a reliable, inexpensive way to grow this hot-summer annual delight! Packet is 10 seeds.

Renews faith in comics
Decided to dive into the DC Comics New 52 and in preparation for Batwoman #1, I decided to pick up this book as a recommendation to getting the full story on this relatively new character to the DC world. This comic renewed my faith in comic books as both great stories and great pieces of art! Greg Rucka crafts a great story here but the artist JH Williams III presents it to you. You get to know this character here in more ways than just a quick reference. Batwoman is given the desire to serve her fellow man as her motivation. She is given the demographic of a Jewish lesbian soldier with a solid family background which is something we don't see much in our universe of white dominated or scarred superheroes. Sure she lost her mother and twin sister as at a young age, but she isn't damaged here. She rises above and serves only to be disappointed by trust issues in her life. But Rucka and Williams make her a bold woman who just keeps going like a shark, surviving because its her instinct and not her desire to escape something. This is the 21st Century woman superhero. Panels of note for me were: 1) how they presented the apartment Batwoman's alter ego lived in, 2) a beautiful full page spread showing the fight on the plane between Batwoman and Alice, 3) a transition panel where Batwoman and Alice are shown on the phone to each other, 4) a touching series where Batwoman as a child and her twin sister realize they are moving because of military orders and their life will change and they swear to always be there for each other. If you want to take a chance on the DC Comics reboot, take a chance on Batwoman #1 and get this one to bring you up to speed, you won't be sorry. A great twist for any new reader wanting to test the graphic novel/comic book scene.

Beautiful Art, Compelling Story
The birth of Kate Kane as Batwoman is one of my favorite graphic novels in my collection. I already owned the digital edition on my iPad, but the art by J.H. Williams was just too amazing not to see in print. This artist knows how to draw beautifully artistic pages; right down to the panels themselves. I also love the style shift from nighttime Batwoman to daytime Kate Kane. The story is really great, especially the ending of Elegy! I also really loved the back stories that follow, showing the history of Kate Kane and how she became the Batwoman. Its also good to know that the New 52 timeline in DC didn't delete all this continuity. Batwoman isn't another Batman flunkie. She's a strong woman and an amazing character that Greg Rucka and J.H. Williams really bring to life in this book.

Better Than Batman!
This is by far one of the best Batman titles that doesn't include Batman as the title character. I'm not much of a reader of Batman, but I have been very interested in Batwoman since I read the 52 series back in 2006. The story line itself is much better then when 52 presented her for the first time. I really like how Rucka focused more on her homosexuality and making her an identical twin too (since I'm a twin myself). However, what blew me away the most was the artwork. Williams really focuses on covering the entire page with art and color; giving you the full comic book art experience. I have seen and very much liked his work in Promethea and think this is just as good. Batwoman is now my second favorite super heroine after Wonder Woman of course.

Compelling and beautiful
I'll say this up-front: I'm a Marvel fangirl. Even so, this book has won me over to reading at least some DC stuff, because it's utterly beautiful. The writing is wonderful and compelling, and the art is astoundingly good, especially the creative, non-standard panelling. This book doesn't really sound like it'd be one as highly rated as it is, does it? Let's be honest here. It's about a lesbian Batman knockoff who's battling a mutant werewolf cult led by an insane Alice-in-Wonderland fan who speaks only in lines from Carroll's book. ...but they MAKE IT WORK. I don't know how, but it's powerful and a damn good read despite the craziness of the premise. And Kate Kane might just be my favourite superhero now.
