Sowing Instructions

DIRECT SOW AFTER DANGER OF LAST FROST IN WARMER CLIMATES

Starting Indoors

8-10 WEEKS BEFORE LAST FROST

Growing Tips

Jalapeno peppers will grow as an annual plan in most zones, but zones 9 - 11 the Jalapeno pepper will grow as a perennial.

We recommend starting pepper seeds indoors roughly 8 weeks before your last danger of frost. Make sure the soil is around 80-85 degrees for proper germination. Pepper plants will need a grow light for 12-16 hours each day.

Harden off seedlings before transplanting by exposing them to the current weather conditions for several hours each day before planting in the ground.

Transplant the pepper seedlings once the outside temperature reaches 60-65 degrees F in the daytime and no lower than 50°F at night.

If plants begin to wilt in extreme sun and heat, provide shade.

Culinary Uses

Jalapenos are versatile little peppers. They can be pickled and canned (our favorite), or roasted to bring out a sweeter (instead of hotter) flavor. Use in any dish that could benefit from a punch of flavor and spice.

Jalapenos are also great in salsas, hot sauces and more.

Harvesting Crops

Jalapeno peppers will get hotter the longer you leave them on the plant. So, depending on your preference of colors and flavors (hot or mild) you may harvest at different times.

If you pick the peppers while they are still green, the plant will continue producing.

Harvest once the green pepper is almost a mature size for green peppers or leave on longer for a sweeter pepper.

It is best to harvest the peppers early, because if left to mature the plant will think that it is done producing.

Use a sharp knife or pair of garden shears to pick the peppers as you will want to be careful not to damage the plant.

Harvesting Seed

You must be careful when growing pepper plants, as they will cross pollinate with many other varieties of pepper plants. You will need to isolate or cage (bee netting) your plants to preserve the strain you are growing.

Allow the plant to fully mature. Remove the best peppers and cut them in half to expose their seeds.

Spread the seeds out on a paper towel and dry for about 2 weeks. Once dried, store safely until next growing season. Generally, Jalapeno Pepper seeds will be viable for 2 years from harvest depending on storage.

Works as created.
Have been using for a few weeks and have noticed 15% improvement in skin and issues. I did notice a difference in the first 24 hours as advertised. It is suggested need a full month I think to see the true results. At 50 I have pre menopausal skin issues- the redness & inflammation, acne, tightness and sensitivity. It is helping in addition to the other Avene skin products that come in the trial box for sensitive or SOS skin box trial size I think ot is called. This has made a difference. It is easy to apply. I use morning and night. It is different from the Cicalfate + Cream. I use that also as needed. I am happy and recommend it. The price is higher than what I spend. But I wanted to try it to see of i need more than just what was in the Avene sensitive skin trial size box they have. My skin is really red and irritated so the $40 for the bottle is was willing to try because it's painful on my face.

Okay serum, not as good as the cream though
I am obsessed with the cream version of this so I thought I’d give this a try. The dropper top allows for easy application. The formula is light and non greasy and absorbs easily. No harsh fragrances. I would use it when I had eczema flares on my face and feel like it didn’t work near as well in helping with skin irritation as the cream does. As of now I don’t use it as part of my regular skin care. Do I think it’s a bad product? No, but it didn’t really work wonders for me. Not sure I would purchase again.

Helps with redness and softens skin
I have sensitive, mild rosacea skin. Had a facial recently and the aesthetician suggested I get a serum to help with moisturizer as I am almost 40. I’ve tried a lot of serums and either they are sticky and not really hydrating or break my skin out in a rash. This serum is amazing. Helps calm the redness in my cheeks and my skin is moisturized and soft all day. It feels a little sticky at first but it goes away. I apply in this order OSEA sea mineral mist toner to prep the skin, this serum and top off with Chanel La Solution 10 for sensitive skin.

Sensitive skin
Such a good product. I use after micro needling when skin is sensitive. Also a great product to use as a barrier serum when starting tretinoin cream.

Saved my skin during an eczema flare up
This saved my skin! I had an eczema flare on my face, and my usual products weren’t working. A friend recommended the Avene brand and within 3 days of using this rescue barrier serum, my flare was almost completely gone! This saved my face!
