Like any other cactuses, the prickly pears are highly drought tolerant and can withstand (and likes) a good deal of harsh direct light! Your spot will have to be at least naturally well lit to support this plant! Give it a thorough watering when the first 2-3 inches of the soil is very dry, since it is drought tolerant, err on the side of caution when you're deciding whether or not to water! (that should translate to water once every 3 weeks or so)
