All the Details You Need to Know

The Story Behind This Plant

Despite its common name and stalk-like appearance, Lucky Bamboo isn't true bamboo at all! It is actually a resilient species of Dracaena (*Dracaena sanderiana*), native to the lush tropical rainforests of Central Africa. It gained worldwide fame through Asian culture, particularly Feng Shui practice, where it is revered as an auspicious plant that helps balance energy and bring good fortune. The intricate tiered or woven shapes are skillfully crafted by growers while the stalks are young and pliable.

How to Keep It Happy

Lucky Bamboo is incredibly forgiving and easy to care for, especially when grown in water. Follow these simple steps for a thriving plant:

  • **Light:** Prefers bright, indirect light. It can tolerate lower light areas like offices, but avoid direct, harsh sunlight, which will scorch the leaves and turn them yellow.
  • **Water (Hydroponic):** Keep water levels high enough to cover the roots (usually 1-3 inches). Change the water completely every 7-10 days to keep it fresh and prevent algae growth.
  • **Water Quality:** This is key! Lucky Bamboo is sensitive to chemicals like chlorine and fluoride found in tap water, which can cause brown leaf tips. Use distilled, filtered, or rainwater for the best results. If using tap water, let it sit out for 24 hours before using.
  • **Temperature:** Thrives in standard indoor temperatures between 65°F and 90°F (18°C - 32°C). Keep away from cold drafts or heating vents.
  • **Feeding:** A tiny drop of liquid houseplant fertilizer in the water every couple of months is usually sufficient. Don't overfeed!
What to Do About Pests

Lucky Bamboo is generally hardy, but indoor environments can sometimes invite pests.

If you happen to spot any of these, check out our guides for quick help:

  • **Spider Mites:** Look for tiny webs and speckling on the leaves, especially in very dry air. Our Guide
  • **Mealybugs:** Appear as small, white, cotton-like spots hidden in the crevices of the stalks or leaves. Our Guide

Good value, easy to take, and great quality
Style: 2000IU, Size: 360 Count (Pack of 1), Style: 2000IU, Size: 360 Count (Pack of 1)
I bought these because my doctor recommended Vitamin D3 for overall health and immunity. I’ve tried a few different brands before, and this one stood out as a good balance of quality and value, especially with the 360-count bottle that will last a full year. Compared to other brands I’ve used, these softgels are equally small and easy to swallow, and the 2000 IU dosage matches what my doctor recommended. I haven’t had any issues with the capsules sticking together, and there’s no noticeable taste or aftertaste. Overall, a great purchase, and I plan to keep buying.

Odor was not detectable, gentle on the stomach and easy to digest, double check before taking this supplement; it may interact with certain medications, otherwise an excellent product. Good value.

There is a difference in brands
Style: 5000IU, Size: 360 Count (Pack of 1)
Thank you for allowing me to try your NatureWise Vitamin D3. There are indeed so many reasons why we should supplement Vitamin D. It is necessary for so many crucial processes in our bodies; from helping us absorb enough calcium and helping us have strong bones and teeth. With everything that is literally "going around" these days, it is crucial that we maintain an efficient and effective immune system. We need Vitamin D to do that. For me personally, as a 25+ years ago back surgery patient who is still very mobile, one of the ways I benefit from this particular supplement is helping to keep inflammation at bay so that I am able to be more comfortable and more active. I noticed a big improvement when I started taking this NatureWise brand. They apparently make it more "user friendly" to the body. What's the point in taking other brands of anything if your body can't use it, or worse, has to figure out how to try to get rid of it? I have had this same experience with the other NatureWise products I have chosen to use. Another of the most important reasons we need adequate Vitamin D, is so that our brains will stay healthy so that we will have less likelihood of developing Alzheimers and/or Dementia. Sound supplementation from a company that uses only quality and natural ingredients is not optional but rather crucial to every person. A person can change their destiny by changing what goes "down the hatch". Whatever your current lifestyle, you can start right now. The right supplements, along with careful and selective nutrition, can literally re-map a person's health. I trust NatureWise to help me in my journey to overcome and persevere so that I will have quality to go along with my quantity of life. I encourage everyone to use the products NatureWise offers. Selecting their products saves me time and effort of looking up all of the ingredients listed on some other brands only to find out that those ingredients are basically trash to my body. It is so important to note that all Vitamin D (or any other) supplements are not created equal. NatureWise is a good company that seems to make careful decisions about the sources, ingredients and processes used in all their products. Thank you NatureWise for providing us a Vitamin D3 supplement using certified organic, cold pressed, extra-virgin olive oil for maximum absorption. According to world-renowned Dr. David Perlmutter, neurologist, "Vitamin D plays a fundamental role in brain health, immune function, and inflammation. According to Dr. Perlmutter, vitamin D influences the expression of more than 913 genes. Sadly, a vast majority of people are dramatically deficient in this critical steroid hormone, in large part because they've been fooled into fearing sun exposure. You've also been deceived into fearing cholesterol, which is another critical component of health. "Obviously, sunshine makes vitamin D in your body from some precursor. When I ask my patients what is that precursor, nobody seems to know. I tell them it's this horrible thing called cholesterol, and their eyebrows go up," he says. "Cholesterol is so drastically important for health, because (1) it's the precursor for which you make vitamin D and (2) it's a fundamental compound of every cell in your body and made by every cell in your body. It's a brain antioxidant. It's a precursor for all the steroid sex hormones – it's fundamentally important."" I have recently became acutely aware of the prevalence and cruelty of Brain diseases. My genius-level, go-getter Mother was diagnosed with a rare form of Dementia. As we know, Dementia and Alzheimers is essentially untreatable and incurable. PREVENTION, however, IS possible, no matter what may be in our "genetic tree". In addition to my mission to obtain as much information to help my mom, I am seeking any solid information that will help me to avoid such a horrible end. More from Dr. Perlmutter: "It's important to realize that, despite what the media tells you, your brain is not "programmed" to shrink and fail as a matter of course as you age. We now know that every activity in which you engage—be it exercise, the foods you eat, the supplements you take, your personal relationships, your emotional state, your sleep patterns—all of these factors dramatically influence your genetic expression from moment to moment. Any given gene is not in a static "on" or "off" position. Neither are they deterministic. You may be a carrier of a gene that never gets expressed, simply because you never supply the required environment for it to turn on. "We interact with our genome every moment of our lives, and we can do so very, very positively," Dr. Perlmutter says. "Keeping your blood sugar low is very positive in terms of allowing the genes to express reduced inflammation, which increase the production of life-giving antioxidants. So that's rule number one: You can change your genetic destiny. Rule number two: you can change your genetic destiny to grow new brain cells, specifically in the hippocampus... Your brain's memory center regenerates. You are constantly growing new brain cells into your 50s, 60s, 80s, and 90s – throughout your lifetime – through a process called neurogenesis. That said, these two ideas come together because you can turn on your genes through lifestyle choices that enhance neurogenesis and that enhance regrowth of cells and expansion of your brain's memory center. This was proven by researchers recently. They demonstrated that there are factors under our control that can make that happen.""
