Clear Quartz is also known as Crystal Quartz or Rock Crystal. It is colorless Quartz, a natural form of silicon dioxide. It is a very durable and hard stone at 7 Mohs, making it ideal for jewelry but difficult to work with for carving. Clear quartz can be found all over the world and has fascinated people since the dawn of humanity. Nearly every culture on earth has used quartz for magical purposes throughout history.

Hematoid Quartz, as the name suggests, is a quartz crystal with hematite inclusions or impurities. The color of Hematoid Quartz can range from a pale yellow to a deeper red and be anywhere from translucent to opaque. Its striking color is due to the presence of iron and is that mineral that determines the depth of the color. 

In cases where the hematite is not included within the quartz but instead layered on top of it, the hematite can maintain its black metallic coloration while the quartz remains colorless and translucent.

The red variety is sometimes called Fire Quartz because of the flame like shape of its hematite inclusions while the yellow variety is also known as Golden Healer Quartz.
