A staple for many gardens Daisies come in numerous varieties and these are suitable for zones 4-9. For zones 6-8 you can direct seed after your last frost and for zones 4-5 you will need to start early in pots so they can mature in time to flower in the summer.

You can start these in pots early, or direct seed them directly in your garden after your last frost in the spring. If direct seeding sow on the surface of your garden bed and lightly dust with screened peat as they require light to germinate.

In pots sow on the surface of your potting material and gently push the seed down to make good contact with your soil. Very lightly cover with sand or vermiculite and transplant into your garden after your last frost in the spring.

Gorgeous book
Format: Board book
This is one of our favorite books. The illustrations are stunning. It's a total work of art! And the story about changing seasons is lovely. I like that it's a quick read but that there's more than a word or two per page. My 13-month old really loves this book, and because I love it so much too, I always encourage her to bring it over for a read!

beautiful illustrations
Format: Board book
The story is nice, but the real magic is in the illustrations. As a parent, I adore reading this book just for the illustrations; each page is a work of art. Most of the story is about winter, so we are reading it a great deal now (December) to discuss wildlife and how they prepare for winter.

Another classic by Il Sung Na
Format: Board book
Il Sung Na is one of my favorite children's book authors/illustrators. The illustrations are whimsical and fun, the text is simple and colorful. This book is very similar in concept to his Book of Sleep as it chronicles a rabbit looking on as various animals respond to the changing seasons. My daughter loves this book, as well as the Book of Sleep and Opposite Zoo.
