Seed Germination Guide
Genuine Venus Fly Trap seeds are relatively expensive as the plants do not produce many flowers what seeds are produced are a pain to harvest - so take your time here! Lots of videos out there in this subject.
Source a peat-based substrate - Venus Fly Traps required acidic, nutrient-poor soil
Choose a container with good drainage.
Use distilled, rainwater as tap water can contain minerals and flouride that harm the plants.
Sprinkle the seeds evenly on the surface of the substrate, do not bury them.
Gently mist the seeds and substrate with distilled or rain water.
Cover the container with a clear plastic lid or bag to increase humidity, but ensure good air circulation to prevent mold.
Place the container in a bright location with indirect light, but avoid direct sunlight, which can scorch the seeds and seedlings.
Maintain a temperature between(24°C to 29°C) for optimal germination - so a heat mat is useful in the UK in most situations
Keep the substrate consistently moist, but not waterlogged.
Germination can take anywhere from two weeks to several weeks, depending on conditions.
Provide bright, indirect light, or supplement with grow lights if necessary.
Continue to use distilled or rainwater to water the seedlings.
Once the seedlings are established, you can start feeding them small insects, but be cautious not to overfeed them.
Ensure good air circulation to prevent fungal diseases.
