Taylor along the scenic road from Mazatlán to Durango, where it grew in partial shade beneath native vegetation. This hardy origin contributes to its adaptability and appeal among collectors and gardeners alike.

This variety forms compact rosettes with pointed, lance-shaped leaves that range from deep burgundy to near black. A delicate coating of farina gives the surface a subtle, silvery sheen, adding a soft contrast to the dark tones. Mature rosettes can reach up to 12–15 cm in diameter, making it an excellent feature plant in pots, rockeries, and succulent displays.
