The UPPAbaby Mesa V3 in Evelyn sets a new standard in infant car seat safety with patented SmartSecure® technology that simplifies installation, minimizes errors, and gives parents confidence from the very first drive. Designed for maximum ease and security, every detail — from the auto-retracting LATCH to the magnetic buckle holder — is built to make life with a newborn a little easier.

Safety & Comfort

Advanced Side Impact Protection meets FMVSS 213A and 213B regulations, while a 4th anti-rebound handle position increases safety in rebound and rear-impact collisions. A large adjustable headrest with 25 positions ensures a proper fit as baby grows, and a no-rethread 5-point harness adjusts with the headrest in one step. A robust infant insert optimizes fit and body positioning from as little as 4 lbs, an intuitive magnetic buckle holder keeps straps out of the way while placing baby in the seat, and two crotch buckle positions allow a precise fit. An ergonomic carry handle with one-handed stroller release button, a deluxe full-coverage UPF 50+ canopy with mesh ventilation and peek-a-boo window, and removable washable seat fabric complete the carrier. Fabric is free from flame-retardant chemicals, the carrier weighs under 10 lbs, and the seat is FAA certified for aircraft use.

Installation

The SmartSecure® system with auto-retracting LATCH installs in seconds, and a red-to-green tightness indicator confirms a safe, accurate install. A four-position adjustable foot makes leveling easy, a built-in lock-off enables secure seatbelt installation, European routing allows a more secure install without the base, and level indicators on both sides of the base provide added confidence.

Stroller Compatibility & Specifications

Attaches directly to UPPAbaby Vista® and Cruz® strollers without adapters; adapters available for Minu® and Ridge® strollers (sold separately). Age range: approximately 0–1 years. Weight: 4–30 lbs, height up to 32” (whichever comes first). Car seat: 17”W × 25.8”L × 23”H, 9.9 lbs. Base: 14.5”W × 21.3”L × 10.3”H, 9 lbs. I really enjoyed this book about the sinking of the USS Indianapolis by a Japanese submarine towards the end of World War II. The story is told through the eyes of a sixteen year old boy, Josh, who lied about his age on his enlistment application and forged his mother's signature. He was determined to do his bit for the American war effort and revenge the death of his father during the attack on Pearl Harbour. When the USS Indianapolis was torpedoed, the survivors, about three quarters of the crew, were flung into the ocean without any survival equipment. Many of them did not even have life jackets and were burned by the fire that had broken out on board the ship or injured when they were swept overboard. The scent of urine and blood soon attracts sharks, lots of sharks, and the survivors fear that they have survived the sinking of the ship only to become food for these huge and vicious fish. The story is short and sharp and I think middle school and young teenage boys will really enjoy it. The author shares some details of the attack and sinking of the ship, without making it to graphic and over whelming for younger readers. Boys, particularly, will relate to the action packed excitement of the attack and also to Josh's thoughts about his mother and younger brother back home. The terrible hardship of being in the ocean for a few days, without food or water, the temptation to drink sea water to alleviate the dreadful thirst and the savage behavior of some of the other survivors are all well told but not with so much detail that younger readers will become overwhelmed or bored. Josh's relationship with another young survivor, Lee, who is of Japanese extraction is also most interesting and contains a good message of delving deeper into relationships and people that merely their heritage and looks.

It contains actual photographs, maps, and hand-drawn illustrations. The book is little more than one hundred pages. Reluctant readers can easily navigate the short chapters with graphics. Targeted for middle grades but just as appealing to young adult and adult audiences.
