Vigorous Growth and Bountiful Harvests of Large, Juicy Berries

The Marge Elderberry (Sambucus nigra 'Marge') is the perfect combination of beauty and productivity, making it an ideal addition to your garden or edible landscape. Known for its heavy yields of large, flavorful berries and its resilience in various growing conditions, this European elderberry variety offers an abundance of benefits. Whether you're planting for its striking ornamental appeal or its juicy berries perfect for making jams, jellies, syrups, and wines, the Marge Elderberry is a fantastic choice for gardeners looking to add a versatile, productive shrub to their garden.

Beautiful and Bountiful

The Marge Elderberry is not just an excellent fruiting plant—it’s also an attractive landscape shrub. Its dark green, serrated leaves create a dense, bushy form that adds texture and greenery to any space. In the late spring, this elderberry produces clusters of creamy white flowers that attract pollinators like bees and butterflies, filling your garden with life. By late summer, those flowers turn into large clusters of deep purple-black berries, prized for their versatility in the kitchen and rich nutritional benefits.

The berries are larger than those produced by typical elderberry varieties, making the Marge Elderberry an excellent choice for gardeners who want to maximize their harvests.

Why Choose the Marge Elderberry?

  • Heavy Yields of Large Berries: The Marge Elderberry produces exceptionally large, juicy berries that are perfect for making elderberry syrups, jams, pies, wines, and more. This variety is known for its prolific fruiting, offering an abundance of berries each season.
  • Cold Hardy and Resilient: This elderberry is incredibly cold-hardy and can withstand temperatures down to USDA Zones 4-7, making it suitable for a variety of climates. It’s also tolerant of different soil types and moisture levels.
  • Easy to Grow: The Marge Elderberry is low-maintenance, thriving with minimal care once established. Its vigorous growth and resistance to pests and diseases make it a great choice for gardeners of all skill levels.
  • Ornamental Value: With its lush green foliage and showy clusters of white flowers, the Marge Elderberry adds beauty to your landscape even when it’s not producing fruit. The flowers also attract pollinators, making your garden a haven for bees and butterflies.

Ideal Placement and Uses

  • Edible Landscapes: The Marge Elderberry is perfect for gardeners who want a shrub that’s both ornamental and functional. Use it in your edible garden for a reliable source of delicious berries while enhancing the beauty of your space.
  • Hedges and Privacy Screens: Plant the Marge Elderberry in rows to create a dense hedge or natural privacy screen. Its fast-growing, bushy form will provide coverage while also delivering edible rewards.
  • Wildlife Gardens: The berries attract birds, and the flowers bring in pollinators, making the Marge Elderberry a great choice for wildlife-friendly gardens.
  • Baking, Cooking, and Preserving: Whether you’re making elderberry wine, syrup, or jelly, this plant delivers all the fresh, flavorful berries you need for your culinary creations.

Growing Tips

  • Light: Plant your Marge Elderberry in full sun to partial shade. It performs best with at least 6 hours of sunlight per day for maximum fruit production.
  • Watering: Water regularly during the first growing season to help establish a strong root system. Once established, the Marge Elderberry is fairly drought-tolerant but performs best with consistent moisture.
  • Soil: This elderberry prefers well-drained soil but is adaptable to a wide range of soil types, including loam, clay, and sandy soils.
  • Fertilization: Apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring to encourage healthy growth and a bountiful berry harvest. Organic compost can also be applied to enrich the soil.
  • Pruning: Prune annually in late winter or early spring to remove dead or damaged branches and to shape the plant. Regular pruning encourages new growth and can enhance fruit production.

not bad
Format: Kindle
I loved the plot of this book. The characters just didn’t have a lot of depth. The connections and “love” just weren’t communicated very well in the writing. The author didn’t write the sweet psycho trope very well at all either. Lachlan was just a mess of a character.

A Beta Worth Rooting For
Format: Kindle
In Spare, Violet Fox flips the omegaverse on its head, giving us a Beta heroine determined to make her mark. Joining the Beta Trials to support her sick father, she's thrown into a pack that doesn't want her, especially the possessive Alphas. But here's the twist: their sweet Omega turns out to be her scent match. Cue the angst, forbidden tension, and a slow-burn romance that will make your heart ache in the best way. Violet Fox delivers an emotional, refreshing take on the genre, proving Betas aren't "spares." They're stars.

Beta, Alpha, Omega oh my!
Format: Kindle
Omegas are precious and given to Alphas & their packs... but the Betas want in too. To this end, the Beta government is rolling out its trial of assigning a Beta to each Alpha-Omega pack. But forcing a Beta into a pack where they are not wanted will not end well... Of course, no one expected the Omega to fall for the assigned Beta. Great read and cliffhanger

A familiar story, just with…..less.
Format: Kindle
So, as other reviewers make clear, this is very similar to Pack Darling and The Beta. It’s much closer aligned with The Beta, in plot and maybe more like Pack Darling with characters. That being said, I don’t hate this…..but it wasn’t great either. It’s both books mentioned but just….less. Less angst, less emotion, less feeling. The plot feels very half fleshed out, and the “bad guy” feels underwhelming. I didn’t really feel any real emotions from and of the male leads, except maybe Oliver. The others fell sorta flat for me. And Mika makes herself out to be this big bad ass straight outta training and then we never see it from here again with the one fitting room incident as the exception. SPOILER: The whole, “Oh, I’m actually probably an Omega, but I don’t wanna be but I do actually wanna be but no one can ever know my secret that I do nothing to hide “ thing fell so flat. She never commutes to believing she was secretly an omega, but also mentions her “secret” a lot. It just felt so manufactured. I’m intrigued enough to read part 2 and see how the author closes everything out, but this is not one I’ll recommend or ever come back to.

A good read
Format: Kindle
A good read, just fluffy cuteness, no antagonism. I like all the characters. It could have used another round of editing however, glanfds being one error that cracked me up, and my personal pet peeve was that the author kept using the word fill instead of feel, which I promise you are not interchangeable haha, but it's definitely better than the majority of books I read on here mistake-wise.
