Jump-start your new meadow-making project with this mix optimized for late-winter/spring sowing – or – for over-seeding an existing meadow in springtime to add additional color and diversity!

While autumn is a superior planting time for many meadow wildflowers, we regularly hear from folks who have a site prepared and ready to seed in the spring. If this is you, this mix was designed for your situation.

Additionally, if you have an existing meadow, but would like to give it an extra kick of color, this mix can be over-seeded during the winter or spring.

The species we’ve included in this mix are western-region natives adapted from southern British Columbia south to central California, and from the Pacific Coast, into the inland West – and these species can germinate without prolonged cold-weather treatment. Note that because of the focus on spring-germinating wildflowers, this mix has a strong component of annual species that can establish quickly and set the stage for later establishing perennials.

For optimal results in creating a new meadow, this mix should be sown directly into clean, weed-free, bare-ground site conditions.

PLEASE NOTE: For longevity and maximum species diversity, we recommend that meadows started in the spring with this mix, also be over-seeded in the fall with another mix, consisting of some of our longer-lived perennial species (such as our Northwest Prairie Mix, one of the Native Pollinator Meadow Seed Mixes, the Deer Defense Seed Mix, etc.)

For spring over-seeding of existing meadows, the planting site should be mowed as low as possible, with the thatch raked off the area before sowing.

SEED MIX COMPOSITION:

Annual Wildflowers (41%): Spike Primrose (Epilobium densiflorum), Tomcat Clover (Trifolium wildenovii), Large-Flowered Collomia (Collomia grandiflora), Fringed Red Maids (Calandrinia ciliata), Farewell to Spring (Clarkia amoena), *Coastal Poppy (Escscholzia californica var. maritima), Globe Gilia (Gilia capitata), Bicolor Lupine (Lupinus bicolor)

Perennial Wildflowers (10%): Canada Goldenrod (Solidago canadensis), Self Heal (Prunella vulgaris), Riverbank Lupine (Lupinus rivularis), Oregon Sunshine (Eriophyllum lanatum), Western Yarrow (Achillea millefolium)

Grasses (49%): Pine Bluegrass (Poa secunda), **Three Week Fescue (Festuca microstachys), Prairie Junegrass (Koeleria macrantha)

Species Notes:

*Please see the Deer Defense Seed Mix for some notes on Coastal poppy and its range across the Pacific Northwest and broader West. Even with its good adaptability and significant pollinator value, it tends to decline over several years in most meadows outside of California, as longer-lived perennial wildflowers eventually replace it.

**Three week fescue, as the name implies is a remarkably fast-growing native annual grass. In the mix it comprises a significant portion of the grass component, functioning as a meadow “nurse crop” to quickly cover bare soil. In this role it provides a protective and supporting matrix for vulnerable seedling wildflowers, a barrier against weed encroachment, a stabilizer against erosion, and possibly a caterpillar host plant for species such as the Lindsey’s skipper butterfly (Hesperia lindseyi).

SEEDING RATES:

  • 100-sqft: 0.5 oz
  • 400-sqft: 2.0 oz
  • 1000-sqft: 4.5 oz

Finally: While the species in this mix can germinate and grow from a spring planting, most spring-planted meadow species also benefit from some supplemental irrigation during the first summer dry season after planting.

I have been using these since 2023.
Style: Standard, Color: Beige
I have had 5 pairs of these. They are the best ear buds I’ve tried. They outlasted my expensive Beats Pro which are exactly alike but $150. The battery life on them is much better. The sound quality is comparable. I use them for calls at home and work, audiobooks and music when I’m doing things at home. Range is decent enough. Super easy to pair, though they don’t come with instructions. You can find them online though. The only issue I’ve ever had was with one pair I opened, there was only one ear bud inside. I had bought them on sale months prior so I couldn’t return them. The only reason I have so many pairs is because I keep one pair in my work bag and one I use at home, and I have lost a couple of them so had to replace. They last forever. The original ones I bought in 2023 still work great! I lost one at the nail salon, but the other I still have and will occasionally wear it at home while cleaning, and still works like new. They stay on and don’t hurt my ears. I’ve recommend them to many people. I try to get them when they are on sale, and then it’s a great value for the price. I just bought another pair as a backup to store away, and notice they are $2 more than the sale price I usually get. Still worth it. Get them!

Super comfortable
Style: Standard, Color: Black
This is actually my second pair of these PocBuds, and that alone should say a lot. The comfort is outstanding. The earhook design makes a huge difference—they stay in place no matter what I’m doing, whether I’m working, walking, or moving around a lot. I can wear these for long periods without any discomfort, which hasn’t been my experience with most earbuds. Battery life is another big win. The charging case and battery performance are fantastic. I don’t feel like I’m constantly worrying about charging them, and the digital display is a really nice touch so you always know where you stand. The wireless charging just makes it even more convenient. Sound quality is solid too, with good bass and clear audio for music, videos, and calls. They’ve been reliable across everything I’ve used them for—phone, laptop, and even TV. Overall, these have been a great value and very dependable. The fact that I came back and bought a second pair says everything. Highly recommended.

Great small pair of headphones
Style: Standard, Color: Black
These are great quality for the price. The microphone is okay and the speakers are good. I wouldn't expect ultra headphones at this size or price. They are great for light music/podcast items. I don't use it for calls much but does work. They are comfortable even if I wear for an hour or two. Very good battery life.

Unbeatable secure fit and battery life, despite a minor audio quirk
Style: Standard, Color: Black
Finding earbuds that can survive daily 6:30 AM weightlifting sessions and stay put while I'm moving around the house or out walking the dog has been a challenge. Most standard earbuds slip out the second I lie back on a bench or start sweating. I decided to try these PocBuds specifically for the wrap-around earhook design and the massive promised battery life, and they have largely been a great investment. First Impressions & Unboxing The charging case is bulky—which is expected for an 80-hour battery capacity—but the digital display on the front is incredibly convenient for knowing exactly how much juice you have left. The one immediate downside hits you as soon as you put them in: the default system audio (the automated voice that says "power on" or "connected") sounds very compressed and cheap. It momentarily made me worry about the actual music quality. Real-World Testing Fortunately, once you get past that initial low-budget start-up voice, the actual audio performance is fantastic. The sound quality is clear, and the deep bass profile is exactly what I need to stay focused during a tough workout. More importantly, the earhooks work flawlessly. These earbuds simply do not fall out, whether I'm lifting, bending over to do yard work in the Florida heat, or jogging. The Bluetooth range is also highly reliable; I can leave my phone on my gym bag or patio table and move a good distance away without the connection stuttering. Finally, the battery life is no joke. Between the buds themselves and the charging case, I can go weeks without having to plug this unit into a wall. Pros: • Rock-Solid Fit: The over-ear hooks keep these perfectly secure during heavy movement and exercise. • Impressive Battery Life: The 80-hour claim holds up, and the digital battery display on the case takes the guesswork out of charging. • Quality Audio: Rich sound and surprisingly deep bass for the price point. • Reliable Range: Maintains a solid Bluetooth connection even when walking away from the connected device. Cons: • Cheap System Prompts: The default "Power On/Off" voice sounds robotic and low-quality, which takes away from the otherwise premium feel. • Larger Case: The high-capacity battery means the charging case isn't as pocket-friendly as standard minimalist earbuds. The Verdict If you can overlook the cheap-sounding system voice prompts, these earbuds are a phenomenal value for highly active users. They deliver exactly where it counts: a secure fit that won't budge during a workout, great music quality, and a battery that seems to last forever
