The Clean Sweep Snowbank™ Indian Hawthorn from the Southern Living Plant Collection is in perfect tune with today’s gardens. It offers dense growth, glossy green foliage, and a massive display of white flowers in spring. The foliage of the Indian Hawthorn remains green year-round, making this evergreen a popular landscape staple that provides a long-lasting year-round interest. Mature shrubs will grow to become 2-3 ft tall while spreading 3-4 ft in diameter, creating a very compact growth habit. In USDA zones 7 - 10 your plant will remain hardy down to 0°F.

In addition to the spring flowers, the Snowbank Indian Hawthorn also produces an abundance of small berries that attract wildlife and pollinators such as birds and butterflies. This easy to care for plant hasn't become popular for no reason, of course, and whether you are an experienced gardener or a novice in the gardening space anyone is capable to growing a happy, healthy Indian Hawthorn.

Snowbank Indian Hawthorn Key Features

With its compact growth habit this is a cultivar that is well suited for use as foundation shrubs or as low hedges unlike its larger relatives which are perfect for hedges or screenings. Once mature and well established they are quite water wise, salt tolerant and pest resistant them making them wonderful options for coastal plantings and container plants.

Caring for Clean Sweep Snowbank Indian Hawthorn

Once your shrub has arrived you will want to be sure to water before planting. This is a full sun to part shade plant so choose an area that receives suitable sunlight and begin digging! Dig a hole 3x the width of the Southern Living Plant Collection pot you received and backfill the plant 1 - 2" above soil level. If necessary, water and add more soil to the plant until it has been settled. In the early spring you may opt to fertilize you plant which should be done with a slow release, granular fertilizer.

Indian Hawthorn Soil

Your Snowbank Indian Hawthorn will thrive in well-drained moist soil, but if your soil lacks these properties there is little need to worry. If you are planting Indian Hawthorn in dense clay, sandy soil or soil with other poor characteristics just follow this guide!

  • If you have dense clay: Mix in organic matter such as composted cow manure, mushroom compost and/or a plating mix at 1:1 ratio after removing the native soil from the hole.
  • If you have sandy, fast draining soil: If possible, mixing with topsoil, peat moss and/or compost will help the soil develop into the well-draining and moist soil that your plant will thrive upon.

Comprehensive!
Format: Hardcover
This is a very comprehensive and jam-packed book (for example, it has information like how to end toothbrushing struggles!). I like that it has so many practical ideas on how to help your toddler navigate life! It is a lot thicker than I expected but the pages are designed in a very eye-friendly way that keep it from feeling like a long read. I do feel like some of the advice is contradictory, which is why I knocked one star off. I also feel like she promotes more talking than is really helpful for toddlers (toddlers can't reason and so over-talking often just confuses them - Dr. Karp has written a lot on this in his book.) But overall it's a very good book with a lot of good principles for the average toddler! As a mom of a 20-month old, I highly recommend you read this book! You will be enlightened on your toddler's behavior and reassured that they are very normal!

One of the most important books in our home.
Format: Hardcover
This is a wonderful book that truly distills the new challenges and opportunities of parenting. Not simply a recitation of information telling you what should be done, but written in a way that left me thinking “Ahh okay.” We’ve had the challenge of seeing the behavior and trying to get to an end result with our daughter that we feel is appropriate. Now I see how I can make better connections to get there, such as code switching or reevaluating expectations. The chapters flow well and each section is broken down multiple ways which helps me reinforce the ideas and suggestions. As I’m reading the various sections, I feel seen as a new parent who doesn’t want to show off vulnerabilities or inexperience because I’m her Dad; I should know everything to give her the best life possible. Many uncertainties are plainly talked about and we are given encouragement. One I must remind myself is that feelings aren’t facts. Our daughter is only two, but we feel much better prepared as we all grow. The only part of the book that really isn’t helpful for us is chapter 45: Welcoming a New Baby. Nope! We were blessed when our daughter arrived and her feet will be the only ones that go pitter-patter. Do your whole family a favor and check this book out.

The most helpful guide for YOU and your toddler!!
Format: Hardcover, Format: Hardcover
I just have to say thank you to Devon and her team!! This book is intended for toddlers (1-5), and I even find the advice still helpful for my oldest who is past toddler stage! I have always loved Devon’s courses, and as a book ambassador, I was able to read this book before launch day. It’s exactly what I was hoping for! It has bite-sized chapters that are so easy to read (and you don’t have to read them in order - you could choose any topic)! Especially love all of the specific examples throughout (so that you actually understand how to apply the lessons!) and that she’s so encouraging (no Mom-guilt!). Highly recommend!!! *I received the book for free and this is an honest, unbiased opinion.

Great Buy.
Great Buy. Love the size and just the right amount of scrubbing power-not too hard not too soft.

Best exfoliating sponges on the market!
I've been looking for these for years. Most of alternatives in US don't work for me- either too harsh or too soft. These are the only I would purchase and repurchase. Loooooove!
