Areca palm | Chrysalidocarpus Lutescens, scientifically known as Chrysalidocarpus lutescens, is a popular tropical palm species prized for its elegant fronds and graceful appearance. Areca palm features a cluster of slender, graceful fronds that emerge from multiple stems, creating a lush and tropical appearance. The fronds are pinnate, meaning they have feather-like leaflets arranged along a central stalk, which can grow up to 6 to 8 feet (1.8 to 2.4 meters) in length. The overall shape of the plant is vase-like, with arching fronds that gently curve outward.

Areca palms are native to Madagascar and prefer warm, humid climates. They thrive in bright, indirect light but can tolerate partial shade. They require well-draining soil and regular watering to keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. They are sensitive to cold temperatures and should be protected from drafts and frost.

Moist and well-drained soil with temperatures ranging from 65 to 75 degrees Fahrenheit (18-24 Degrees Celsius). It grows effectively in partial sunlight and likes high humidity (50%-70%) for healthy growth. Areca Palms should be watered at a moderate rate about 2 times per week

Average quality lightweight throw, not sold on the color

This blanket is fairly soft and lightweight, and better suited for the summer months. I don't think the texture and "Southern Blues" color looks as nice in person as in the photos; less cozy and more like a spare blanket you might find in a hotel closet. Interestingly the care tag says that the outer faces are cotton, but the blanket feels polyester and the content tag indicates the same. The stitching and durability feel ok, and it will probably hold up for the occasional machine washing and low heat drying. Overall it's a fine warm season throw but not particularly notable. I would probably recommend one of the darker colors.

So easy to wash!

Two things I love about this coverlet: 1. It's so much easier to wash than a duvet! Or even a duvet cover or a regular blanket, for that matter. The queen-size coverlet fit easily in my washer, and I could have put in another if I had had one. It stayed loose and balanced in the machine - the washer didn't have to readjust its balance during the spin cycles. In the dryer, it didn't wad up into a ball that had to be shaken out every few minutes. It came out feeling softer and looking good, with no wrinkles. 2. It's thinner than a duvet and suitable for warm weather, yet those three stitched layers give it substance and weight that I find more comfortable than sleeping under a pile of fluff or a bed sheet. The soft pastel green color with cream lining (not really reversible due to the hem) is fresh and reminiscent of the 1950s coverlets that my grandmother made. Crocheting was one of her passions, and she'd create huge lacy doilies that lay across the foot of the coverlet. Very pretty look.

When I first received this blanket I washed it by itself in cold water with detergent. I did not use a fabric softener or a fabric sheet. I air dried it completely and then put it in my dryer on air fluff for 10 minutes. No shedding and it came out just like I received it. I was concerned about shedding with some of the reviews but I had no issues with that whatsoever. It's warm yet lightweight. I didn't want anything that would make me overly hot because I'm always hot anyway. It takes that cool edge off when you still want your overhead fan on. My daughter said she likes it better than the one she has. I can't remember the brand. I feel it has a good quality. Just make note to wash it as instructed and it'll hold up well and look just as nice as the way you bought it. I'm not sure how the other reviewers that didn't leave 5 stars washed there's, but it couldn't have been the correct way.
