Philodendron 'Florida' is a cross between Philodendron pedatum and Philodendron squamiferum and makes a very interesting hybrid, growing rapidly and throwing out a wide variety of different leaf shapes as they mature. Different Light levels will result in different leaf structures, with broader, less indented leaves in brighter light and more deeply indented ones in shade. 

Philodendron Florida produces pale or variegated leaves naturally that gradually darken as they mature (don't confuse them with yellowing leaves it normal growth!). Like a lot of Philodendrons these plants get better and better with age, and they become firm favourites of anyone who keeps them and you will often be asked for cuttings from friends and family!

The reason Philodendron Florida make such amazing indoor plants is that they adapt to a wide variety of lighting and water conditions in the wild and so will thrive indoors very well. Philodendron Florida has large, green, dark leaves which allow them to absorb even the tiniest traces of light and water in the wild or at home. 

The petioles, or the stalks and stems of the leaves, tend to be a reddish colour, with a rough texture, a legacy of its other parent, Philodendron squamiferum. The stems and leaves together make quite a show as they grow. 

Philodendron Florida is very easy to care for and perfect for a corner with low light, this is one of our favourites, there aren't many plants that pump out new leaves all winter long the way this one does!
