Introducing our Monstera Filamentous Peru, a captivating native plant thriving within the Amazon, straddling the borderlands of Peru and Brazil. Belonging to the Monstera genus and Araceae family, the Monstera filamentosa is distinguished for its intricately fenestrated leaves, signifying its innate natural beauty.
This remarkable plant, known as a hemiepiphyte, exhibits the fascinating ability to flourish on other plants or in soil, achieving impressive heights between 3 to 6 meters. The internodes, measuring 3-5 cm in length and 1.5-3.5 cm in diameter, boast strikingly conspicuous striations, sulcate patterns, and ribbing, showcasing a distinctive dorsiventral compression that adds to its unique appearance.
The mature leaves of adult Monstera Filamentous Peru plants span approximately 48-110 cm in length and 26-56 cm in width, featuring a narrow elliptical to lance-oblong shape, often broadening towards the base, exhibiting a thin leathery to subcoriaceous texture. Notably, the leaves bear characteristic perforations towards the center, resembling delicate filamentous strands. The margins of these leaves are consistently and deeply pinnatifid, adorned with 6-15 lobes on each side, complemented by one or two primary lateral veins per lobe.
During its flowering phase, the Monstera Filamentous Peru showcases solitary inflorescences with a dry peduncle measuring 4-5 cm in length and 4-5 mm in diameter. The spathe, measuring 8-9 cm in length and 4.5 cm in width, presents a rounded apex with an apiculate tip when rolled. Initially appearing white to pink-salmon, it transitions to a paler hue inside and ultimately transforms to a verdant green post-anthesis. The resulting infructescence is at least 12 cm in length and 3.5 cm in diameter, maintaining its green coloration.
