Not an aquatic plant — Bella Palm requires well-drained substrate with consistent moisture and high humidity, making it ideally suited to the emersed zones of paludariums and humid terrarium environments.
Care note: Bella Palm is best grown in emersed or terrarium conditions with consistent humidity rather than fully submerged. Maintain temperatures of 65–75°F and a humid environment for healthy, vibrant growth.
Growing to 10 to 18 inches in terrarium settings, Bella Palm creates elegant, palm-tree-like vertical structure that suits tall paludariums and large terrarium compositions. The slender, arching fronds provide a distinctively different vertical element from typical terrarium foliage plants — the classic palm silhouette adds genuine tropical atmosphere to any humid display environment.
This easy plant grows in low to moderate lighting without CO₂ supplementation. Temperatures between 65 and 75°F and a pH of 6.0 to 7.5 provide comfortable conditions for this cool-tolerant tropical palm. Consistent moisture and high humidity are the most important environmental requirements. It is notably shade-tolerant — one of the few palm species that performs well in the reduced light levels typical of terrarium environments.
