The leaves are green with red tip most of the year, however, if not given enough sunlight. Roots grow from the leaf nodes freely, enabling this sedum to spread and form a large carpet over time, hence its nickname "Sedum Red Carpet". It is an extremely low maintenance plant that requires very little water and can survive in most soil conditions.
  
  In late winter and early spring, it produces cute clusters of tiny white flowers on short stalks a few inches above the foliage.
