c.1929–1964 Susie Cooper left A. E. Gray & Co. Ltd where she had been a decorator and designer in October 1929 to establish an independent pottery business, first at Tunstall and then at the Chelsea Works, Burslem. In 1931, at Harry Wood’s invitation, Susie Cooper moved her design and decorating studio to the Wood & Sons Ltd Crown Works in Newcastle St, Burslem, where she was operating as the ‘Susie Cooper Pottery’. The association with Wood & Sons continued and in 1959 she purchased the Crown Works as the base for her expanding business. From c.1950 Susie Cooper’s new focus was on bone china and the last earthenware pattern (2429) was registered in July 1964. Production of earthenware ceased shortly afterward. The Crown Works remained the base for Susie Cooper’s design studio until the Works were closed by Wedgwood in 1980.

The Susie Cooper earthenware produced between the early 1930s and 1964 includes wall masks, figures, art pottery and decorator items, but best known are the collectable tableware decorated using freehand painting, banding, sgraffito, lithography, and aerography.

Tableware shapes include the famous Kestrel (introduced in 1932 and still in production in 1964) Curlew (1932), Rex, Falcon (1937), and others. Patterns of the early 1930s echo those developed at Grays – bold floral motifs, banding and geometric designs. By the mid-1930s the decoration had changed from the vivid geometric to more subtle floral and banded decoration. The multi-colour lithographic patterns ‘Patricia Rose’ and ‘Dresden Spray’ are the best known floral patterns and these were produced, with many variations from the 1930s to the 1960s. In 1987, to celebrate a retrospective exhibition at the Victoria and Albert Museum, Wedgwood re-introduced three Kestrel breakfast sets in re-worked versions of the 1930s patterns Yellow Daisy, Spiral Fern and Polka Dot.

The Kestrel shape is probably the best known and most sought after shape that was introduced by Susie in 1932, its sweeping finial and robust spout showing strong Art Deco influences yet the shape continued in production until the mid-1960’s, designed by Susie Cooper.

This item is a beautiful Susie Cooper Tiger Lily tea trio consisting of a cup, saucer and tea plate decorated in soft oat and fern colour bands on cream background and the stunning Tiger Lily present on each piece.

These are fantastic!!!
Size: 80 ea
All I can say is, "WOW." I've been fighting terrible dry mouth since going on cpap three months ago (my mask covers nose and mouth). My machine has a humidifier but that wasn't helping at all, even when turned up so high it was raining in my mask! The first nite I tried these lozenges it was like a gift from the angels! I used two, putting one on each side as per the instructions. It was a little weird sticking them to my molars at first; they didn't seem to want to stick but finally took hold. I also had to kind of adjust them so they didn't get knocked loose when I closed my jaws. But once they were in place they worked like a charm. I don't find the taste at all objectionable. It's kind of a very, very mild mint. I will *definitely* order these again. If you fight dry mouth, these are worth trying even though they're on the expensive side. They aren't as expensive as dental work if they end up protecting your teeth from cpap-induced cavities! UPDATE - my oral hygienist told me that CPAP users often begin to develop cavities and other dental problems from using the device. She said that the use of xilitol, which is in these lozenges, night help stave off such problems. Here I am, after years of CPAP use, and I have had no dental problems other than a lost filling! These lozenges are a lifesaver!

It works well but uncomfortable
Size: 80 ea
I take blood pressure pills that dry my mouth out. The inside of my lips feel burned from being so try overnight. It's uncomfortable. I discovered these tablets and thought I'd give them a shot. I am struggling with them. I don't have a large mouth and these have to sit inbetween your gums and your lip or cheek. They are bigger than I would like. Plus they kind of hurt my gums. You're supposed to put them in place, wait ten seconds so they stick and then there is no further instruction other than they work for several hours. Do we just leave them in place all night because the uncomfortability makes it so I can't sleep easy. I also wear a nightguard on my top teeth to keep me from grinding. I love Xylitol, I bought some to use in my coffee in the day time so that part is a great thing. I just can't get past how uncomfortable it is to have them fixated in your mouth all night. One last thing... you're supposed to put two in. I did that the first night and it was like... NOPE. I let them sit for 5 minutes like it says and then I just dissolved the rest in my mouth because no way could I leave them in place and sleep. The next night I just used one on my bottom gums. It was still uncomfortable. If they could make them smaller, it would be way easier. Other than that, the Xylitol does work and my mouth isn't nearly as try when I wake up in the morning.

Odd but surprisingly great
Size: 80 ea
These things are pretty weird. I had no idea what I was ordering when I ordered them. When they came, I didn't read the documentation and tried one like a normal breath mint. No no no. I set them aside for a few months -- until I read an article online in which dentists were interviewed and in which the dentists recommended products helpful for dental health. These things were mentioned in that list, so I dug them out and read the documentation. Oddly enough, each "melt" has an adhesive-like side that will keep it in place against your jaw (tucked out-of-the-way, between gum/teeth and cheek). And, it's gone -- there but forgotten. Lasts for hours (no kidding), slowly dissolving, keeping your mouth moist (like for speaking) and keeping your breath slightly "minty fresh" (I'm laughing at that expression.). And, apparently, there is a flouride-like dental benefit, but I haven't researched that. Anyway, I highly recommend these quite-strange "melts" (not mints but slightly minty).

Clear and powerful analysis.
Format: Paperback
The three books in Bowlby's trilogy on Attachment, Separation and Loss need to be read a whole. Using the studies and case histories of children being separated from their mothers and important others, in a wide range of circumstances from separations of only a few minutes, through separations of several weeks on up to prolonged and permanent separation due to divorce and death, Bowlby outlines a new way of understanding neurosis, psychosis and optimal, healthy functioning. Using the lens of a Darwinian analysis, and the case histories written up by psychoanalysts spanning decades, he compares and contrasts his new theory with that of previous psychological thought, especially the psychoanalytic tradition. I found his analysis penetrating and illuminating. It sets the stage and formulates the hypotheses for further research. Much of that research has now taken place and has borne out Bowlby's theories. Not all of it, of course. Because Bowlby's attachment theory became and continues to be such a foundational analysis for so much that has followed in its wake, from evolutionary psychology to child development to psychotherapy, it is a must read for anyone interested in these and related fields.
