Description

The Goldfish Plant (Nematanthus gregarious) is a perennial and native to the rainforests of Brazil. These plants are easy to care and drought tolerant. The flowers of the goldfish plants resemble goldfish, which was where the plant's name from. Under proper care, the plant can bloom all year round. The fleshy, dark green leaves of the plant are beautiful, glossy and shiny. In combination with its ever-blooming flowers, the plants are excellent for hanging baskets or tabletop plants.

Care tips

1. Soil. Goldfish plants like rich and well-drained soil with good water retaining capacity.  
2. Light. Bright indirect or filtered light. Low light affects blooming.
3. Temperature. Goldfish plants prefer hot weather and are frost tender. The temperatures should not be lower than 55ºF.
4. Water. Water your  plant when the soil surface becomes dry to the touch but do not let the soil dry out. Keep the soil relatively dry in winter.
5. Feeding. Fertilize the plant biweekly during the growing season with a balanced, water-soluble plant food. No feeding is necessary during the winter months. 
6. Special care. Prune the branches if the plant begins to look leggy. Remove fading flowers to save the plant's energy.
