Pepperbox Poppy seeds are a rewarding choice for gardeners seeking beauty, function, and culinary utility in a single plant. Growing these old-fashioned poppies offers triple rewards: glorious flowers, handsome pods, and nutty-tasting seeds from the same ornamental plants. Gray-green Pepperbox plants send up nodding stems of large, papery-textured purple, red, and pale pink blossoms, all with dark center blotches that add dramatic contrast and attract pollinators.

Once the petals drop, their big seed pods swell as blue-black seeds mature inside. These seeds can be harvested when dry and used in baking, or the pods can be saved for long-lasting, decorative arrangements. Easy to grow in full sun and well-drained soil, Pepperbox Poppies are best direct sown in early spring or fall. They do not transplant well but readily self-sow, making them a sustainable and low-maintenance option for ornamental beds and pollinator gardens.

Whether you’re cultivating for dried flower crafts, edible seeds, or vibrant seasonal color, Pepperbox Poppies offer a unique combination of beauty and productivity. Plants grow up to 3 feet tall and bloom through late spring into summer.

Chef’s Kiss! Quality Product at an Amazing Price!
Size: Large
The large is a perfect size for my 66# and 110#. If you have a smaller dog, consider a medium. Fill them with peanut butter, 1/2 banana each, wet kibble (paste) or pumpkin puree, and put into the freezer. Not as stiff as their Kongs. Both dogs are strong chewers and these have held up. Clean the inside with a baby bottle brush.

Stands up to puppy teeth!
Size: Medium, Size: Medium
I was fostering 2 7-week old puppies that chewed on EVERYTHING! I got these AND a couple of the Kong brand chew toys. These have stood up much better to the puppy teeth than the Kongs did. I throw them in the dishwasher (not every time) and I also have a small straw brush to clean them. They are easy to fill, and once they are done with the treats (PB butter, yogurt, pumpkin, apple sauce etc.), they continue to chew on these. When you throw them, they have a fun bonce. I ended up foster failing one of the puppies, but we still use these often. They still look brand new and I have had them for about 6 months. I got the medium, my dog is about 13 lbs now and the size is perfect for her. The material is strong and I don't hear a peep when she is chewing on it. I would 100% recommend these!

Great toys. Bouncy, chewable long term.
Size: Medium, Size: Medium
We got these for our puppy and to see how they would compare to kongs. Our dogs love these more than the kongs and so far, with two chewy dogs, they have not destroyed these yet. They are very bouncy and provide a lot of chasing fun. We will be buying more and we recommend these.

Durable
Size: Large
Excellent material. I wish the hole was a little smaller to keep the treats in better. Also wish they were a little larger and/or oddly shaped so as not to fit under the sofa. Still totally worth it.

Subtle, great dog toy design!
Size: Large
These things are amazing. Stuff them with peanut butter and treats and freeze them of course, but football spike them across the yard to drive your overly hyped dog nuts! And the hole allows you to safely pry it out of a tug battle , just a great design! And it can bobble across a small living space without getting lost like a ball would. Love it!
