Good for beginners? Yes. Chinese Evergreen is one of the best beginner plants available. Silver Bay is particularly forgiving of lower light, inconsistent watering, and average home conditions.

Light needs: Low to medium indirect light suits it beautifully and the silvery tones stay most refined. It tolerates lower light better than almost any other variegated plant. Avoid direct sun which can bleach the pale silver coloring.
Care at a glance: Water when the top inch of soil is dry. Feed monthly in spring and summer. Wipe leaves occasionally to keep them glossy. Avoid cold drafts and temperatures below 60°F.
