EFN INTRODUCTION. This unique prickly pear cactus was found growing in a front yard in Vineland, New Jersey. It's very different from the small, low-growing prickly pears commonly found growing as far north as Massachusetts. This species (which somewhat resembles Opuntia stricta) grows to about two feet tall, has large flashy pads, and produces medium-sized tasty fruit. It survives winters outdoors here in Zone 7, and may prove to thrive even farther north. The Opuntia genus is notoriously challenging to categorize, as there is wide natural diversity and many species also hybridize easily. Taxonomists really have their hands full with this genus. When we get a positive identification for this species, we will be sure to spread the word.

Whatever it is, the fruit are juicy and delicious, more sour than supermarket prickly pears, lending a welcome complexity to the flavor. If you've never tasted a cactus fruit, the closest comparison is to watermelon. The pads are surely also edible, though we haven't tasted them yet. These cacti are easy to grow from seed, requiring no special treatment. Simply surface sow, then cover with a dusting of soil, and keep watered until they sprout. Once they start fruiting, watch out for the teeny tiny spines (called glochids) which are present on all prickly pears. Wearing cloves, they can be scrubbed off before use, or — so we've been told — burned off!

We're running a long-term breeding project to improve this crop, looking especially for even bigger fruit, fewer seeds, and more cold hardiness, so we urge anyone buying these seeds to sign up to EFN and join this project (www.ExperimentalFarmNetwork.org/project/16) or at the very least keep us posted about how it performs for you.

NOTE: Because we have a limited amount of these seeds and each seed is unique and potentially precious, we do not conduct germination tests (which would require sacrificing hundreds of seeds) on breeding mixes like this one. If buyers are unsatisfied, please contact us.

Fine holographic sparkle with smooth and even application
Color: Glint Rainbow
I tested this glitter powder several times over about two weeks while using it on my hair and along the cheek area for festival style makeup looks. The shimmer particles are very fine, which helps create a smooth reflective effect rather than chunky glitter. The applicator releases a light dusting of powder, which makes it easier to control how much product is applied. I found that building it gradually works best, starting with a light layer and adding more for a stronger sparkle effect. The holographic finish reflects different tones depending on the lighting, shifting slightly between soft rainbow colors under brighter light. It looks subtle indoors but becomes more noticeable and reflective in direct lighting or outdoor settings. During wear, the glitter stayed in place for several hours with minimal fallout when applied lightly. I noticed that applying it over slightly set makeup or hair helped it adhere better and reduced loose particles. With its fine texture, controllable application, and noticeable sparkle under different lighting, it delivers a versatile glitter effect for creative makeup looks. The quantity of the spray was nice and it was durable under the sun too.

Glitter Bomb
Color: Glint Rainbow
It gets ALL over the place and doesn’t stick all that well. Neat idea but it doesn’t work the way I would hope.

Stains easily. Tight for men's size 11 feet
Flavor Name: XL silicone socks 2 pairs, Flavor Name: XL silicone socks 2 pairs
Husband wore dark cotton socks over these gel foot covers overnight and the covers picked up color from the socks. Tried hand washing, even dabbing with a bleach soaked paper towel, but the stains remained. The covers are a bit tight for men's size 11. Edit: After a few more hand washings the stains began to fade. However one tore around the leg opening when taking it off.

Worthless. Tore on first use.
Flavor Name: XL silicone socks 2 pairs
The first time I put these on my feet, the whole toe broke right through. They were a proper fit and my feet are well pedicured. Just very poor quality. I don’t recommend.
