A free-draining mix with equal parts loam-based compost, orchid bark, and perlite maintains moisture without waterlogging. Feed this plant with a balanced, dilute houseplant fertiliser monthly in spring and summer; withhold feed in autumn and winter when growth slows. This philodendron is toxic if ingested, so keep out of reach of pets and children. Avoid overwatering and exposure to cold drafts, both common causes of yellowing leaves and stunted growth.
