This is a high-oxygen epiphytic mix designed for plants where root-zone airflow is critical.

It is engineered to keep roots oxygenated even immediately after watering, with low moisture retention, rapid drainage, and persistent structure. This mix performs best for true epiphytes and select climbing aroids with thick, fleshy, exploratory roots.

Think exposed bark, moss pockets, and open air—where roots are hydrated briefly and then breathe continuously.

This is not a terrestrial or moisture-buffered substrate.

COMPONENTS

(Meticulously blended to work harmoniously with each other)

Coco Husk – Chunky structural organic. Provides internal water buffering without collapsing pore space; supports thick roots and rapid dry-down.

Orchiata Bark – Structural backbone. Long-lasting, microbially stable bark that maintains airflow and prevents compression over time.

Moss Petals – Strategic moisture moderation. Adds localized humidity and brief moisture availability without converting the mix into a water-retentive matrix.

Perlite – Lightweight permanent aeration. Preserves macropores and oxygen pathways even at full saturation.

Biochar – Nutrient buffering and microbial habitat. Moderates EC swings and stabilizes biology without acting as a fertilizer.

WHO THIS MIX IS FOR

This mix is designed for plants that require maximum airflow, fast wet–dry cycling, and non-collapsing structure.

Best suited for:

  • Epiphytic orchids

  • Epiphytic and hemiepiphytic aroids with climbing habits

  • Plants with thick, fleshy roots that suffocate in soil-based mixes

  • Growers who water thoroughly and manage nutrition actively

This mix prioritizes oxygen first, moisture second.

NON-NEGOTIABLE RULES FOR SUCCESS

  • Water thoroughly to full runoff every time.

  • Do not “sip” water—partial watering is ineffective.

  • Fertilize weakly and consistently; there is no nutrient reserve.

  • Use porous, vented, or rigid pots; avoid closed cache pots.

  • Tight pot sizing is essential—excess volume leads to dry roots.

This mix is not forgiving of neglect or infrequent watering.

PLANTS THAT DO WELL IN THIS MIX

Orchids:
Phalaenopsis, Cattleya (including hybrids), Oncidium, Brassavola, Encyclia, Dendrobium (epiphytic types only), Vanilla orchid (juveniles)

Fit great

Been a couple of months and they seem to be holding up nicely. Real picky about fit of socks and these fit well. They are very thin but very comfortable.

They're a little thin, so good mainly for warmer months. But they fit very well and I've not experienced any slippage

Low quality socks.
Size: Large, Color: (001) Black / Black / Castlerock
I have been buying Under Armour undergarments for years and have noticed a steady decline in quality. These socks are no different. I purchased another six packs of very similar styled Under Armour socks in 2023 and recently they have started wearing out. Those socks are no longer available for reorder, but these extremely similar socks were so I ordered them. The quality difference is obvious just by looking at and feeling them. They are more of a faded black/brown than the black pictured or the black that the three year old socks still are. The material is completely different and feels lighter. When wearing them they already feel like they are bunching up in my shoes, which the old ones never did. I do not expect these to last even a year and will not buy them again.
