  Monstera deliciosa is native to the tropical rainforests of Central and South America, where it grows as a climbing plant under the forest canopy. In its natural habitat, it climbs trees to reach brighter light while its aerial roots help absorb moisture and nutrients.
  
  Although rarely seen indoors, mature plants can produce a unique flower consisting of a creamy white spathe surrounding a central spadix, similar to other plants in the aroid family.
