Why is this variety premium? Driftless Dawn sunflower is difficult to produce seed from because of it's indeterminate growth habit (setting multiple heads in sequence), which means that we can't apply uniform netting to keep birds out, because the pollinators still need uninhibited access to the flowers for the younger heads. It's a delicate dance between getting high quality seed and not (only) feeding the birds.
Lot # CO-OG-1047-2023: Grown by Circadian Organics in Ferryville, WI in 2023. Certified Organic. Tested at 91% germination in February 2026.
