  • Crassula Orbicularis is a rare succulent perennial that has a shallow root system, as well as leaves that form beautiful rosettes. The leaves are narrow, flat, and elliptic, up to 4 inches (10 cm) long and up to 1 inch (2.5 cm) wide with hairy margins. The colors of these leaves range from green to deep bronze, usually with red or purple undersides.

It produces a terminal, compound or rarely spike-like inflorescence, up to 10 inches (25 cm) tall, with leaf-like buds.

The flowers are cup-shaped, with a musty scent and rarely blackish when in bud. The petals are 0.2 inches (5 mm) long and are whitish or brownish red, appearing from June to November.

All of the plants may be shipped bare root.
  • Full sun to partial shade.

Porous and well-drained succulent mix. Optimal pH is around 6.0 (slightly acidic).

Water thoroughly when soil is dry to the touch, then let drain completely. Avoid letting water sit for too long in the soil to prevent rot and fungal diseases.

Average summer temperatures from 65ºF/18ºC to 70ºF/21ºC are ideal. In winter, it can survive temperatures as low as 50ºF/10ºC.

Feed with a controlled-release fertilizer at the beginning of the growing season.

You can propagate Crassula Orbicularis by division, offsets or leaf cuttings. The easiest way is to propagate from a single leaf: put the leaf in a succulent or cacti mix, then cover until it sprouts.
