Tradescantia pallida 'Purpurea'

Tradescantia pallida, often called Setcreasea purpurea, hails from Mexico and is a fantastic choice for outdoor spaces in tropical and semi-tropical regions, where it serves beautifully as ground cover. This lovely plant has also long been a staple as a houseplant, but it's gaining popularity for outdoor gardens, too, both for ground cover and in containers. Growing up to 8 inches tall, its trailing stems can reach 18 inches or more, adorned with thick yet delicate stems and pointed, narrow-oblong, v-shaped leaves that elegantly sheath the stems. You'll be delighted by the small clusters of pink, three-petaled flowers that bloom beautifully on this plant.

The cultivar 'Purpurea,' known affectionately as 'Purple Heart,' showcases even more stunning purple foliage than the species, with vibrant violet-purple stems and leaves that truly stand out.

As a tender perennial, Tradescantia pallida thrives in USDA Zones 10-11. It flourishes in rich, moist, well-drained soil, enjoying full sun to part shade, where the purple hues are at their best. Despite its love for sunlight, it’s good to note that strong winds can threaten its fragile stems, so ensure it gets some protection. After the blooms have faded, it's best to snip away the flower stems promptly. Feel free to pinch back the stems whenever needed to keep the plant looking its best and encourage fresh growth. While propagation is easy with cuttings, please note that seeds aren't available. You can save cuttings to overwinter for the following year, and if you have container plants, simply cut them back and bring them indoors for a cozy winter.

Superman is really SUPER!
Format: Paperback
Fans of superheroes cannot do without this collection of the earliest stories of the Man of Tomorrow. Superman is the epitome of what followed in the era of early superheroes and laid the groundwork for comics even today, as well as radio, TV and movie versions.

Nice collection
Format: Paperback
This is completely worth the money and the time to read. It's like taking a time machine to before he was famous. Man, this is not like present day stories and art. To me this is a history book for every comic book fan. Much like the Bstman Chronicles.

Exciting and fast paced
Format: Kindle
Loved the stories within stories flashbacks. It all ties in nicely in the end and leaves a cool cliffhanger. The art is fantastic and so is the sifting in of beloved Star Wars characters from the past. Good storyline to follow!

Great way to add even more depth to Black Spire Outpost
Format: Paperback
Having just visited Black Spire Outpost on Batuu, I really enjoyed learning more layers of depth and stories from there with this collection of comics. Having read "A Crash of Fate" and "Black Spire" was a great way to do that as well, but this was obviously a quicker read, and also spanned many different times and with some different characters, too. Great for readers with shorter attention spans, too! Recommended!

A great tie-in to the Disney parks
Format: Paperback
Welcome to the Black Spire Outpost on Batuu! I haven't been yet, but you may have if you've recently visited Disney World or Disney Land. There's obviously a lot of references to how the actual park looks. The cover featured the Millenium Falcon just like the actual attraction. This graphic novel tells one story focusing on one of the original characters made for the parks: Dok-Ondar. Within the big story there are four smaller tales being retold. Han Solo deals with a baby sarlacc. Greedo's ego is showcased. Hando comes in contact with the Guardians of the Whills. And, Doctor Aphra travels to the Sith Homeworld of Moraband. Each of these stories show off different aspects of the park that you can see for yourself if you go in person. This is what Star Wars does so well, making connections and building a big lived-in world. There are plenty of wonderful references. Ki-Adi-Mundi and Chirrut are just two of my favorites. Dok-Ondar is the true star of this book. He's an underworld mastermind. I give this book a 3.5/5. It's full of fun stories with connections to the park and featured characters from different eras. This definitely is a tie-in story, though.
