Hoary Stock Seeds (Matthiola incana) produce elegant, fragrant flowers that have been cherished in gardens for generations. Also known as gillyflower, this classic biennial thrives in full sun and cooler conditions, producing tall, sturdy stems topped with dense clusters of blooms. The softly textured foliage and sweet fragrance make hoary stock a standout choice for cottage gardens, borders, and cutting beds.

Blooming in shades of pink, purple, and white, hoary stock adds both visual appeal and sensory interest to garden spaces. As a member of the cabbage family, its flowers are edible and have a mild, sweet flavor that works well as a garnish. The nectar-rich blooms are also attractive to butterflies and other pollinators, supporting a healthy garden ecosystem.

Classic Beauty with Fragrance:

  • Tall stems with clustered, fragrant blooms
  • Colors include pink, purple, and white
  • Cold-tolerant and well suited to cool seasons
  • Attractive foliage adds texture to garden beds

Why Customers Love Hoary Stock:

  • Strong, pleasant fragrance ideal for cutting gardens
  • A timeless cottage garden favorite
  • Edible flowers for decorative culinary use
  • Supports pollinators with abundant nectar

How to Use / How to Grow:
Sow hoary stock seeds in full sun and well-drained soil. As a biennial, plants typically focus on vegetative growth the first season and bloom the following year. Hoary stock prefers cooler temperatures and performs well in spring and fall gardens.

Space plants to allow good air circulation and water regularly during establishment. Harvest flowers for bouquets when blooms are just opening for the longest vase life. Plants are also well suited for borders, edges, and container plantings.

So far so good
Color: Brown
I have had issues with other models/variations of the timex expedition in the past, so I was hesitant to get an even more expensive version of it, but I just really liked this watch so I gave it a shot. I was looking for a new “daily driver” watch as I have a bunch of nicer, more expensive watches that I didn’t want to wear to work at a hospital. I like the solar charging feature for sure as I change my own watch batteries and it can be a pain sometimes. It’s a nice weighty watch, which I like because it feels solid, not cheap. So far it seems to be keeping time well, which is an issue I’ve had with other expeditions in the past. I really like the look of this watch a lot. It’s a sharp looking watch without being too flashy or fancy so it can be worn with just about any attire. I will note that because of the solar feature, it needs to be charged well before setting the time. I placed it under a led light for about 24 hours before setting the time and using it and when I don’t wear it I place it near a window. So far I’m really liking it, but I haven’t had it long enough to really know about long-term reliability. I will update if any issues arise.

Timex Expedition Solar a no frills fine watch
Color: Brown/Blue
The watch came uncharged. I guess you're supposed to charge the watch by exposing it to sunlight. There was no sunlight and I wasn't about to wait for any. I placed it in front of one of my ultra-bright led flashlights for about 5 hours that night. It's been working fine ever since. I'll expose it to sunlight when I see some. It's a nice looking watch, no bells and whistles but it's been keeping excellent time. I swapped out the band for a NATO which I find more dependable. The price shouldn't put you in the poor house and if it's like all the other Timex watches I've owned, I'll be happy with it.

Great watch. Janky quartz. Bad strap.
Color: Brown
It’s got all the specs one could want in a field watch, but I can’t get over the janky quartz movement. The second hand overshoots and undershoots the second markers notably throughout its rotation. Also, the leather strap provided does not age well, it turns a dark brown and develops cracks in short order. Still, especially if nabbed on sale, the watch is well worth it and will probably outlive the wearer.
