Form and performance - can one exist without the other? It shouldn't. The CYBEX VR3 resistance strength line exercises the theory that form and performance belong together. VR3 is a collection of machines that combine striking appearance, excellent performance, genuine comfort and accessibility - without sacrificing the goal of functionality. If you want form and performance, the VR3 line delivers both.

The Cybex Back Extension’s pelvic stabilization system utilizes adjustable foot brace which allows the user to ’lock into’ the hip pad, causing hip extensor engagement for optimal pelvic stabilization. The lumbar level axis of rotation promotes the use of the lower back (spinal erectors) as the prime movers. Starting positions provided every 10®. From small to tall without getting off the machine. The adjustable footbar accommodates user height variation and allows adjustment from the seated position. Lumbar extension - but not too much. The Cybex design promotes proper and controlled movement into extension. Curved lumbar pad encourages lumbar extension/flexion while minimizing the possibility of excessive extension.

Cybex unique technology adjusts the machine to the user rather than the user to the machine. Regardless of the starting position selected, the cam remains synchronized with each individual user. RLD (Range Limiting Device) varies the leverage to maintain the correct level of force throughout the range of motion while taking into account each user’s limits and abilities. Start RLD (adjustable start only) provides start positions every 10 degrees. Total RLD (adjustable start and finish) provides start and end positions every 10 degrees. VR3 offers Start RLD and Total RLD as optional features.

Best book for beginners to learn safe practices in single pitch climbing
Format: Paperback
Great book for beginner climbers, especially those who want to set up top ropes. Goes over anchor setup, knots, gear placement, belaying, rappelling, etc. Lots of good photos. Very easy to read, don’t be put off by the description as a “manual”, and worth reading to learn how to do things safely. It’s definitely not just for those who want to guide or take AMGA courses. If you are debating getting this book or “Top roping” by the same author, get this one, as it contains 100% of the content in the other book (much of the exact same text and photos) and more, and is just as easy to read. In fact, this has a ton of overlap (and many of the same photos) with “Climbing Anchors” which the author co-authored, but is more accessible and spans a wider range of content. If you are the “leader” of your beginner climbing friends or even if you have some experience but want to take a beginner climbing outside, this is a must read.

Perfect reference guide
Format: Paperback
I bought this book to supplement my lessons with an AMGA guide to learn how to set up toprope climbs. I used it many times to practice and reinforce everything I learned. It is really well written and my favorite book in terms of the knowledge contained within. As common sense would dictate this is not a book to teach your how to toprope...it is a reference to what you have learned?

Essential To Read Before the Class
Format: Paperback
This book provides a good overview of what you'll need to know for your AMGA Single Pitch Instructor (SPI) course and assessment. If you plan to take that course this book is a no-brainer. You just have to buy it and read it. There are a few shortcomings: * The photos of how to tie the knots skip a lot and it is impossible to learn the knots from the book. * The photos of what not to do should be clearly labeled with a red cross bar or WRONG overlay on the photo. If you flip causally through the book and look at the photos some very wrong stuff is there and you have to read the text to know that it is not recommended. * The religious debate on anchor systems rages on. Should you set up a Joshua Tree System with Tether or a Backside System? I realize the AMGA doesn't want to pick sides and will say either is acceptable, but the book doesn't even try to discuss the advantages and disadvantages of various anchor systems.

over all good book, quality pictures
Format: Paperback
this book will get you ready for the course, but there is a lot to learn outside of the book as well. Training and time is the only way to become truly proficient at the skills out lined in this book. over all good book, quality pictures.
