Ficus benghalensis 'Audrey'

Ficus benghalensis 'Audrey' is a banyan fig grown indoors for its oval to oblong leaves, firm texture, and softly visible pale veins. The foliage emerges fresh green and matures to a deeper tone, giving the plant a calm, substantial look as the woody stems strengthen.

Ficus benghalensis is a tree-forming fig, so Ficus benghalensis 'Audrey' responds best to stable warmth, bright filtered light and a root zone that dries gradually after watering.

Leaf and stem traits in Ficus benghalensis 'Audrey'

  • Leaf finish: Leathery oval to oblong leaves mature deep green with paler veins.
  • Woody framework: Stems gradually firm up and branch, giving the plant a clear small-tree habit indoors.
  • Species background: Belongs to Ficus benghalensis, the banyan fig, native to the Indian Subcontinent.
  • Indoor size: Grown as a houseplant, it stays much smaller than outdoor banyan trees and can be shaped by pruning.

Banyan fig structure in a pot

Ficus benghalensis is a tree species from seasonally dry tropical regions of the Indian Subcontinent. In nature, banyan figs can become massive trees with strong trunks and aerial-root development, while indoor plants are managed as woody container specimens with a much smaller root volume.

Ficus benghalensis 'Audrey' keeps the species’ firm leaves, latex-bearing stems, and tree-building habit, but in a pot its growth is shaped by light, container size, and pruning. Healthy new leaves depend on a root ball that dries gradually after watering, because saturated indoor substrate reduces oxygen around the roots and often shows first as yellowing or leaf drop.

Care routine for Ficus benghalensis 'Audrey'

  • Light: Give bright filtered light. The firm leaves and woody stems need enough light to support compact shoot growth and strong leaf colour.
  • Watering: Water deeply after the top layer has dried. Let the full root ball rehydrate, then allow the pot to drain so roots do not sit in stagnant moisture.
  • Substrate: Use a structured, well-aerated houseplant mix with bark, coco chips, perlite, pumice, or similar components. Dense peat-heavy mixes stay wet too long around woody Ficus roots.
  • Temperature: Keep warm and stable, ideally above 18 °C. Cold windowsills, draughts, and sudden night drops can disturb root uptake.
  • Humidity: Normal indoor humidity is often acceptable when watering is steady, but very dry air can affect tender new growth and leaf margins.
  • Feeding: Feed lightly during active growth. Flush the substrate occasionally with plain water if fertiliser salts build up on the surface.
  • Pruning: Cut above a node to maintain height or encourage branching. Pruning is best done while the plant is actively growing and able to seal cuts quickly.
  • Repotting: Repot when roots circle densely or the plant dries unusually fast. A moderate pot increase supports new root growth while keeping watering predictable.

Issue checks for Ficus benghalensis 'Audrey'

  • Lower leaf drop: Check for a recent move, a temperature dip, or inconsistent watering. Stabilise the position before making further changes.
  • Yellow leaves: Inspect the root ball for wet pockets and poor drainage. Adjust watering only after checking moisture deeper in the pot.
  • Brown edges: Can follow dry spells, low humidity during new growth, or salt build-up. Rebalance watering and reduce feeding until the next healthy flush appears.
  • Small new leaves: Usually points to limited light, restricted roots, or weak feeding during growth. Check light first, then root space and nutrient routine.
  • Scale or mealybug: Inspect along veins, petioles, and woody stems. Remove pests early and repeat checks because Ficus stems offer good hiding places.

Latex and pet safety

Ficus benghalensis 'Audrey' is not pet-safe. Leaves and stems contain irritating milky latex that can cause mouth and stomach irritation if chewed, and sap may irritate skin or eyes during pruning. Keep it away from pets and small children, and clean tools after cutting.

Ficus benghalensis 'Audrey' name background

Ficus is the classical Latin name for the fig. The species name benghalensis refers to Bengal in South Asia.

Pale-veined leaves, firm foliage and upright woody growth give Ficus benghalensis 'Audrey' its calm banyan-fig shape indoors.

Delicate and pretty but does the job
Color: Light Coral, Size: 40DDD
This is a new brand of bra for me and I got it because it was recommended. Today I'm wearing it and have a few thoughts: 1) The straps are comfortable. In fact, the whole thing is comfortable. It doesn't look like it would be comfortable at all, but it's pretty nice. 2) I'm not so sure about the sturdiness. When putting this on this morning, the mesh actually ripped a little bit as I was positioning it around my torso after buckling the back together. This is how I put bras on: Turn it upside down and have the snaps facing the front, snap the snaps, then rotate it around your torso until it's positioned correctly, then flip it rightside up over your breasts. Is there some other way? I'm super afraid of ripping the delicate material now. 3) Despite how delicate the material is, it does have some give once on and holds my breasts well. 4) The fit is good. I'm normally a 40DDD. If I go up a cup size, then the underwire digs into my skin, so I want to avoid that. These seem a bit snug so as I wear it today, I'm going to watch for "spillage" where breasts start bunching up at the top. I know, that sounds so gross, but larger breasted ladies know what I mean! To answer some questions: Yes, it has adjustable straps. Are there bras that don't have adjustable straps that aren't sports bras? Yes, it is machine washable, though this is one of the first bras where I think I might actually need to use a delicates bag because the lace is just so delicate. It's very pretty, holds well, minimizes well, is pretty comfortable, but just a lot more delicate than I'm used to.

Great affordable bra
Color: Balsam Blue, Size: 38I
Best bra I have purchased! I wear a 38 I and this is without a doubt the comfiest bra I own. No side boob or uniboob! The fit is perfect and there is no spillage on the tops or sides and I'm not having to constantly adjust myself. I didn't think it was possible to find cute, supportive bra for under $40 but here we are. They also have great support for when I'm at the gym. I do tend to still put a looser fitting sports bra over the HSIA bra when I'm working out for my own comfort, but it's not really necessary and I would most likely be fine during my workout without the extra layer.

Cute but could be better
Color: Dark Pink, Size: 38DD
This bra definitely looks really good and has a sexy style to it. It does a decent job overall, especially for the price, but after trying two different bras from the same brand, I honestly liked the more expensive one much better. The lace on this one is pretty, but it shows through thin shirts and tighter materials. The underwire also started digging into my skin after wearing it for a bit, and the lace caused some irritation. The fit wasn’t bad, but the pricier version was noticeably more comfortable and fit better overall. For $16, this bra is still decent and looks nice, but if you’re deciding between the two, I’d recommend spending a little extra money on the more expensive one for the added comfort and better fit.

Best bra ever 💯
Color: Dark Pink, Size: 38DDD
I have seen these bras hyped everywhere especially tiktok, so I was expecting to be somewhat disappointed. Instead i am shocked by how much I love it and am immediately looking to buy more of them!! This is the most comfortable bra I have ever worn. I am a 38DDD, and it actually does appear to minimize and lift my chest in shirts while being so much more comfortable than any other bra. My back pain is gone???? Its affordable??? 100000000/10. Buy it 😭😭

Good fit, but wire isn’t good for super lg breast
Color: Purple, Size: 36I
While I love the fit of these bras I’ve order almost one in every color, I have to say the wire does break a little easily they always snap right under my under arm now ik I have very large breast I’m between a I and J cup. These are a little tight but you can still adjust them I still love them despite the wire snapping. I’d say they last longer for small breast like my sister I accidentally ordered the wrong cup size and it fit her now she’s hooked on this brand and has an equal amount of colors😂 it’s easy to wash and I wouldn’t say it’s soft because it’s mesh I don’t think mesh is that soft like silk or anything but it’s definitely smooth and see through so my bf and I love that part whenever I wanna get spicy and send a pic during the day.
