The Dracaena Carmen bush has long and elegant leaves that show off a glossy green base lined with yellow. New leaves sprout from the center, higher than the last, and the older leaves on the bottom of the bunch eventually crisp up and drop into the soil below. This stacking growth pattern gives this Dracaena a fuller, bushier appearance.

Naturally found in southeastern Africa, these plants like to dry out slightly between waterings, so our advice is to wait until the soil is dry enough to be slightly receding from the edges of the pot before you water. Place your Carmen cane in a spot where it can be in medium to bright indirect light, avoiding extended periods of direct sun – basically, if you can comfortably read a book with the lights off, that’s enough light. The large Carmen bush comes in a 10” pot, and won’t need to be repotted for at least a year or even two. Dracaenas are considered toxic, so keep these plants out of reach of any curious pets or children.
